DULWICH HAMLET / ASPIRE ACADEMY WEEKEND ROUNDUP
Sunday brought mixed fortunes for the ASPIRE Academy coached youngsters in their respective divisions of the Kent Youth and SELKENT Leagues.
In the Kent Youth League, the Under 15s upset the formbook putting a dent in HF Sports Paulista’s slim hopes of catching up with Whyteleafe at the head of that division as they held their 3rd placed opponents to a 2-2 draw at Rutland Walk. Not such as happy story for the Under 16s and Under 14s. After beating Phoenix Sports in their last outing before the Easter break, the Under 16s suffered a heavy 6-0 home loss to 3rd placed Meridian VP, a defeat that left the team still back in 8th spot. Meanwhile it was another Sunday and another defeat for the fledgling Under 14s squad, who once more battled gamely but went down 7-0 away to Cray Valley.
In the South East London and Kent League (SELKENT), the Under 12s are currently playing Shield games. However, after three games in their aptly named Pink Division, they are without a win having gone down 8-2 at home to Long Lane Lions on Sunday. Better news for the Under 11s who sit second in their Mauve Shield division. Yesterday they enjoyed a goal-filled game coming out on top at home to Athenlay after a 3-3 draw at HF Sports Paulista Adders and a 3-0 defeat away to current leaders Welling United.
