Dulwich Hamlet help to launch "South London 4 South London" campaign
Dulwich Hamlet and Aspire Academy have linked up with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation for a campaign of support and funds for young South Londoners
Dulwich Hamlet FC, the Rio Ferdinand Foundation and ASPIRE are launching their South London 4 South London (#SL4SL) campaign on 11th October 2019. A season-long initiative, #SL4SL will bring together a network of South London based supporters, businesses and grass-roots organisations to support young people from Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham.
Behind the campaign are childhood friends, Peckham born and bred Rio Ferdinand and Dulwich Hamlet manager Gavin Rose. Their campaign, which includes a series of high profile events with current and ex-professional football players as well as celebrities, focuses onchanging the negative narrative of young people from South London and finishes with Gavin’s Testimonial Legends XI match on Sunday 26th April 2020.
Rio Ferdinand said, “It’s great to be working with Gavin on this campaign. There’s so many talented young people in South London who just get overlooked. If we can harness all the good-will from local businesses and the Club’s supporter base, we can make a real difference to young people’s lives.”
Gavin Rose said, “This is such an important campaign for me, I feel a part of this community and I know that by working with Rio to bring these networks together we can support local young people and make a difference to the South London community”.
