Dulwich Hamlet Juniors raring to go!

Dulwich Hamlet Juniors raring to go!

The Senior season may be in full swing but tomorrow is the start of the SELKENT League campaign for all the youngsters under the Junior Club wing.

Dulwich Hamlet Junior Football Club have a long & proud history. Founded in 1981, as Southwark Sports JFC, who played on Dulwich Common, they came under the wing of Dulwich Hamlet, & changed their name in 1989.

One former player of theirs is none other than current First Team player Kalvin Morath-Gibbs. Unsurprisingly, with his Hamlet supporting family background, the Hamlet Juniors were his first club, as a young schoolboy!

For the 2012/13 season the Juniors will be running teams at eight age groups, all in the SELKENT League, with home games being played at the GOALS sportground on Copers Cope Road, in Beckenham, which is a few minutes walk from Lower Sydenham station.

The younger age groups have seven-a-side games, with teams moving up to eleven-a-side matches,at the Under 11s age group.

All the fixtures for tomorrow, Sunday 16th September, are as follows:

The Under 7s are at the Marathon Grounds, in Shooters Hill, & play two matches, ten minutes each way, against Villacourt Rovers & Beacons FC.

At 1.00pm the Under 8s are at home, taking on Dulwich Village Orange, in the SELKENT West division; playing 15 minutes each way.

The Under 9s are still in the process of establishing their squad, & won't start their competitive footbasll until January.

Also at home, at two o'clock, are the Under 10s, with two 25 minute halves, in the SELKENT D division, the opposition being Culverley Rangers.

The Under 11s have no game this weekend.

Neither do the Under 12s, as their opponents Athenlay cannot raise a side.

The Under 13s open their programme in the SELKENT C Division, 35 minutes each way, with a 10.00am start, away to Athenlay Rye.

And, last but not least, the Under 15s are at home, 40 minutes each way, with a two o'clock kick off in the SELKENT B Division, versus Junior Reds Valiants.

Here at the official Hamlet Pitchero site, we hope to bring you news from the Junior Club on a regular basis, so keep on looking back for all the Young Hamlet stories.
