Dulwich Hamlet on the road after FA Trophy draw today
Its an away day in the First Round of the FA Trophy Proper as Dulwich Hamlet found themselves paired with Bury Town after today's draw at Wembley.
Familiar opponents from last season's Ryman League Premier Division campaign when Dulwich did the double over the Suffolk club winning 3-0 at Champion Hill and 3-1 up at Ram Meadow, Bury Town have put behind them a turbulent year that saw them finish 8 points behind their nearest rivals in bottom spot.
Relegated to Ryman Division One North the Blues have regrouped and mounted a challenge anew for a swift return to the Premier Division. At the time of writing they lie in fifth spot, 11 points shy of leaders Cray Wanderers but with three games in hand. Of their 20 league games so far they have lost just two.
Their run in the FA Trophy began in the Preliminary Round with a single goal win away to Faversham Town, overturning Kings Langley 2-0 in the next round before squeaking past Herne Bay in a penalty shootout, midfielder Craig Nurse rescuing a draw in the 94th minute of the opening game despite having taken over as emergency goalkeeper after Neil O'Sullivan's dismissal.
The Blues booked their place in the First Round on Saturday with a resounding 4-2 win over Ryman North rivals Thurrock FC.
The two clubs have previously met in the FA Trophy back in 2008 when Bury Town, then riding high in the Southern League Midlands Division, came to Champion Hill on a Sunday afternoon, departing on the back of a rather one-sided 3-0 victory.
This tie will take place on Saturday 12th December at Ram Meadow, Bury St Edmunds with a 3.00pm kickoff.
