Dulwich Hamlet to host England Lionesses book event

Dulwich Hamlet will host a book event for Carrie Dunn’s ‘The Pride of the Lionesses’ on Sunday November 3rd

"I used to watch DHFC when I was a student at King's College living in halls nearby, and it'll be great to be back at Champion Hill"- Carrie Dunn

On Sunday November 3rd at 12.30pm, Dulwich Hamlet will host a Q&A with Carrie Dunn on her new book ‘The Pride of the Lionesses’, which documents the changing face of women’s football in England and the team’s run to the 2019 World Cup.

Carrie Dunn is a sports journalist and has reported on the last two Women’s World Cups for The Times and Eurosport.com. She regularly features on radio and television discussing and commentating on women’s football. Her other books include ‘Spandex, Screw Jobs and Cheap Pops: Inside the Business of British Professional Wrestling’ (2013) and ‘The Roar of the Lionesses’ (2016).

The Q&A will be hosted by Pippa Monique, the football presenter and online personality - as seen on GiveMeSportW and Arsenal Fan TV.

Carrie Dunn said, “I'm so excited to have an event at a club that puts so much emphasis on the whole community - including its women's team. I used to watch DHFC when I was a student at King's College living in halls nearby, and it'll be great to be back at Champion Hill.”

Dulwich Hamlet Women’s play Eastbourne Town that afternoon, with kick off at 2.00pm. We would encourage anyone attending the Q&A to stick around and enjoy the game with us.

Brit Saylor, captain of Dulwich Hamlet Women's team, said, "Promotion and exposure is important in improving support for the women's game. Having experienced being both at the games and watching them from home, the World Cup has most certainly had a positive impact. With all the games televised and a push to get as many people in the stadium as possible, I think it allowed the teams and players exposure that they wouldn't normally get and through that some momentum into the league games."

Our club bar opens at 12pm with the event starting at 12.30pm and you can purchase signed books from the author.

The Dulwich Hamlet Supporters’ Trust will also be selling the book from the Mega-Container after the event. The book is priced at £12.99 and profits from the sales will be used for one of the Women’s team community projects.
