East Thurrock Utd 2-2 Dulwich Hamlet

East Thurrock Utd 2-2 Dulwich Hamlet

Dulwich will be disappointed not to have won this top of the table encounter that they dominated for long periods.

Dulwich were quickly on top and went in front in the 2nd minute. Dean McDonald overhit his cross from the right but Jordan Hibbert collected the ball and crossed for Ryan Moss to head home off the inside of the post.

Dulwich poured forward and Jack Dixon was just too high with a header from another Hibbert cross. Mitchell Nelson's long ball almost put Ryan Moss through and Dean McDonald wasted a good chance when his cross was too close to the keeper. McDonald had another effort blocked as he twisted into space on the left.

Nyren Clunis was sent clear but havin done the hard work he produced a weak finish that was saved by Lidakevicius. Mitchell Nelson then had a header from an Ashley Carew corner that thumped off the post. All this in the first 12 minutes of the match.

Moss and McDonald combined to put in Nelson but his cross was cut out before the home side had a 25th minute header that went wide.

McDonald shot over after some trickery had bought him space and Sammons just managed to clear a cross by Moss in front of McDonald.

Ryan Moss had one final chance just before the end of the half but his shot was easily saved.

Half Time 0-1

Many Dulwich fans wondered if they would rue not making their dominance count and their worst fears were realised 6 minutes into the second half when Wraight was left free at the far post to head in.

The home side then saw an effort from Ruel go just wide before Dulwich regained their composure. Clunis was thwarted by a good challenge and Ashley Carew wasted a good chance wit a shot when a cRoss may have been the better option..

The game was now end to end although Dulwich still carried the greater threat as McDonald and Moss combined well up front. However, it took a defensive mistake for them to go back in front. A misplaced pass was seized on by Clunis who was left with just the keeper to beat. He duly took it round him and rolled it into the empty net.

However the lead lasted only 2 minutes when the dangerous Higgins, having Benn completely anonymous up until then, crashed home a shot after hesitant defending, although Waldren appeared to be pushed as he had tried to head clear.

Both sides went for the winner and Gus Sow was sent tumbling in the box.but the referee deemed it was simulation and booked him.

Despite both side's efforts there were no further clear chances and the game finished even.
