ENFIELD TOWN 3-4 DULWICH HAMLET

ENFIELD TOWN 3-4 DULWICH HAMLET

Erhun Oztumer struck a hat trick as Dulwich made hard work of securing a victory after a moment of madness saw Dean Lodge sent off before half time.

The Hamlet side was boosted by the return of Lewis Gonsalves and Kevin James but Mathieu Boyer was serving his suspension from his dismissal at Bognor. Ahmed Deen was only on the bench and Abdul Mansaray replaced the injured Nyren Clunis.

The first half was best summed up by the fact that it took the home side until the 38th minute to register a worthwhile effort on goal and even that didn't trouble Phil Wilson in the Hamlet goal.

It was a procession towards the home goal with efforts from Erhun Oztumer and Billy Crook not unduly troubling Noel Imber in the home goal before he did well to get down to a low effort from Dean Lodge in the 19th minute.

However, it took until the 25th minute for Dulwich to establish a lead as Erhun Oztumer received the ball some 35 yards from goal and was allowed to advance unchallenged towards the penalty area. His shot then took a large deflection that gave Imber no chance.

Three minutes later the lead was doubled as Peter Adeniyi made a rampaging run down the right and, after he was crowded out, the ball was played to Dean Lodge on the left. His cross was headed home by the unmarked Erhun Oztumer.

Ian Daly was twice unable to get on the end of good crosses as Enfield Town held on grimly but, with half time approaching, The Hamlet were reduced to 10 men. Dean Lodge took exception to a tackle from behind and aggressively confronted the perpetrator, shoving him in the chest. This left the referee little option but to brandish the red card.

Half Time 0-2

Dulwich had to shuffle their resources during the interval and Lewis Gonsalves did not return for the second half; initially Peter Adeniyi moved to the centre of defence with Kershaney Samuels coming on to fill the right back slot.

Within a minute of the restart the game should have been put to bed as Abdul Mansaray was played into space all alone some 10 yards out. However, he managed to strike his shot straight at Imber.

This let off buoyed the home side and they were level by the hour as first Liam Hope flicked a header beyond Wilson on 53 minutes, and then poor defending was punished as Anton Olondo thumped home emphatically on the hour after The Hamlet defence had failed to clear.

Dulwich looked to steady the ship and, within a minute, Erhun Oztumer had headed just wide. The game was now very even although Dulwich had now made further adjustments with Kershaney Samuels getting forward on the left and Marc-Anthony Okoye at right back and Peter Adeniyi and Ethan Pinnock in the middle.

On 72 minutes Xavier Vidal replaced Abdul Mansaray and seven minutes later the game took a further twist. Erhun Oztumer found space in a crowded penalty area but despite sidestepping the onrushing Imber he appeared to be crowded out with defenders also retreating to the goal line. His response was to produce an outrageous chip that was beating the jump of Enfield captain Mark Kirby stationed on the line. His response was to reach up and push the ball over. The result was a penalty and a red card that evened up the numbers.

Erhun Oztumer stepped up and sent Imber the wrong way to complete his hat trick and re-establish the lead.

On 84 minutes Ian Daly produced a turn to the right of goal that took two defenders out of the game but his pass to Kevin James saw the latter's shot deflected wide.

With two minutes remaining Dulwich re-established their two goal lead as Xavier Vidal received a pass around thirty yards from goal and set off towards the penalty area where, from a position on the right of the area, he let fly with a shot that dipped and swerved as it flew past a motionless Imber.

That should have been game over but back came Enfield Town and Tyler Campbell was able to get free on the Dulwich left to advance and beat Wilson to ensure a nervous injury time period. However, there were no further alarms as Dulwich finished on the front foot.
