Everything you need to know | Altona 93

Everything you need to know | Altona 93

Joining us in Hamburg this weekend as we take on Altona 93? Here is everything you need to know.

Travel

If you are flying into Hamburg Airport, travel into the city itself is straightforward using the suburban train system, the S-Bahn, which connects to the main train station Hamburg Hauptbahnhof (Hamburg Hbf) directly with the journey takings approximately 20 minutes.

The Airport station is located directly beneath the terminals, and you can either purchase a ticket from the ticket machines directly above the platform or via the hvv app which you are highly recommended to download!

A single ticket for zones A and B (most of the city) can be used on the S-Bahn, U-Bahn (Underground) and buses and costs €3.80. This is the ticket you would need to purchase from the airport, or alternatively you may wish to purchase a day ticket which is €7.25 (which includes up to three children between 4-14) if you plan to do more journeys that day by public transport.

A day ticket is also valid up to 6am the next day.

One of Altona’s main sponsors is the S-Bahn and you can often see highlights of their games and club information being shown on the information screen on the trains!

Group Travel Around the city

If you are traveling in a group, you also have the option of buying a group day ticket for up to 5 people, this covers Hamburg AB costs €14.51 online or €15.60 from a ticket machine.

Getting around Hamburg is easy, with its extensive transport network, particularly on the S-Bahn and the U-Bahn.

Again the hvv app is an essential tool which not only allows you to purchase tickets but offers timetables, journey planners and more.

Whilst there are no barriers at S- Bahn and U-Bahn stations or the need to show your pass / ticket to a bus driver, there are frequent ticket inspectors through-out the day and night.

Taxis

In Hamburg, you can find taxis at official taxi stands, hail them on the street (if the light is on), or book them through phone or taxi apps such as Uber.
