Final hurdle for the Youth Team tonight
It's the third qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup this evening at Champion Hill, when we play Camberley Town, at 7.45pm.
This is the last of the qualifiers, that has so far seen The Hamlet youngsters win all three of previous ties at 'Fortress Champion Hill'. In the preliminary round we smashed Metropolitan Police 6-0; hitting another six in the 1st qualifying round, thrashing Molesey 6-1. In the previous round we were three nil up versus Corinthian, before they came back to force extra time, where we again took control to win the tie 5-3.
Tonight we take on Camberley Town, who play in the Ryman Youth League. They sit in the middle of the West Division, having only played three matches, due to assorted cup ties. They opened up with a comprehensive 5-1 win at Hampton & Richmond Borough. And a draw at their Krooner Park base, points shared, a goal paiece, with Ashford Town(Middlesex). A home win against Potters Bar Town, by a lone goal, followed.
Tonight is their first away match in the FA Youth Cup, in which they were fortunate enough to receive a bye in the preliminary round. A one nil victory against Leatherhead followed, & in the second qualifying round Camberley beat Cobham by four goals to one.
They have also competed in the Surrey Youth Cup, winning at Chipstead by the odd goal in five.
So the scene is set for a crakcing tie later on, with a prize of a trip to professionals Colchester United, at their Weston Homes Community Stadium the prize for the victors.
Admission is only £3 tonight, £1 for concessions.
