Freddie’s Birthday Day Out!

Freddie’s Birthday Day Out!

Saturday was an extra special day for one young fan; mascot for the day Freddie Britton- Hall

We all know that any visit to Champion Hill is a special occasion not least when you see the Hamlet score an 85th minute winner.

Saturday was an extra special day for one young fan; Freddie Britton- Hall attended his first ever football match to celebrate his 5th Birthday.

Travelling all the way from Templepatrick, in Northern Ireland, Freddie led the teams out at the start of the match.

Freddie (with the help of his dad) has sent us the following review of the day….

“So, Freddie's first match started off with us flying in from Belfast on Friday night and staying with his Godparents in Dulwich for his 5th birthday treat. We got up early for a kick about in the local park with Freddie sporting his new Hamlet jersey, and he was really happy to see a few kids also wearing their blue and pink tops too. A spot of pre match pizza got us set for the walk to Champions Hill, and it was great to follow the crowds to the ground listening in to the fans chat of the games predicted result. Freddie was hoping for a 10-4 win for The Hamlet and Daddy said 3-2......

On arrival to the ground the staff took great care of us, showing us where to go ready for Freddie's turn to lead the team out before the game. And Freddie was well happy when the teams walked down the tunnel after the warm up and gave him high fives! Finally the time came for him to walk out with captain Quade and shake the hands of all the players and stand out in front of the fans before the game. Freddie said that is was "a bit scary, and he really wanted to run around the pitch for a kick-a-bout".

We then took our seats for the match, the strong wind was causing some tricky playing conditions. The Hamlet crowd behind the away goal were in full song (and the handful of dedicated Truro supporters who had made the long trip were also making themselves heard) and the crowd in the stands were getting behind the team. Some great team work resulted in the first Hamlet goal, and Freddie was jumping up and down with the rest of the fans in celebration. The second Hamlet goal was a brilliant bit of individual skill and Freddie was really happy to see the teams goal celebrations right in front of where we were sat.

Nine men Truro battled hard go get the score level to 2-2, but The Hamlet deserved to get the winning goal. What a match!

We left the ground with big smiles and we will definitely be back to see the team again and you now have a small supporters club in Northern Ireland who will cheer on the Pink and Blues!

Thanks Dulwich Hamlet, Freddie had a 5th Birthday that he'll never forget.”

We’re delighted that Freddie enjoyed his first trip to Champion Hill and hope he and his dad are planning their next visit!
