Gavin Rose looking forward to Non League Day
We managed to have a quick word with our manager before our big 'PAY WHAT YOU LIKE' match tomorrow
Hamlet Pitchero: It's looking to be a big day, hopefully. There's been lots of publicity, both for Non League Day, and our work with the Kick It Out campaign. How important is it to spread the anti-racism and discrimination message at our level?
Gavin Rose: Yes, of course it's an important message, not just at our level, but throughout the whole game, and society in general. Football grounds are perfect places to spread the word, and with a bigger number expected tomorrow thanks to our 'Pay What Like' game, it's the right stage for us to spread the word that we don't accept racism and dscrimination, not just at Dulwich Hamlet, but in general.
Hamlet Pitchero: It's great that some of the proceeds are going to help so many local charities. And you and some of the players are joining in by doing the Ice Bucket Challenge after the game, at a quarter past five. Tell us more...
Gavin: To be honest, I don't know much more, except that I'm going to get very cold and wet! It was Peter Adeneyi's idea, truth be told. But I can't complain, it's all for a good cause, & I hope lots of our fans will support us by putting a few coins into the buckets going round the ground in the second half, and after the game. And I know some fans will be paying for the pleasure of tipping the buckets over us too, so I don't mind joining in and helping out.
Hamlet Pitchero: It was a great result on Tuesday night against Margate. Will that put any extra pressure on the team against Hampton & Richmond Borough, in front of a bigger than usual crowd?
Gavin: No, I wouldn't have thought it will put pressure on us, we we treat it as simply another game, as we did on Tuesday against Margate. Having lost the previous two games to Leatherhead & Billericay Town it was a game we needed to win, so were totally focussed on getting the three points on board, even though it was good to beat a decent side like Margate. We shall have the same approach on Saturday, knowing we need to win the game for ourselves.
Hamlet Pitchero: And, to close, what's your message to any 'first timers' on our terraces tomorrow?
Gavin: Simply, come along and enjoy the game. Our fans are the best there is at our level, the atmosphere they create is always great, so join in, enjoy it, and please come back when you can.
