First Team boss Gavin Rose talks about Danny Carr; the "12th Man"; last night's loss & the game on Saturday...among other stuff! Read on...

Danny Carr is all over the news today, with his trial at Liverpool. Is he on his way, and how will it affect the rest of our season?

"No, he's not going anywhere yet, he's under contract to us. He's been invited to Liverpool for a trial, just as he was by Charlton Athletic. They wanted to sign him, but didn't want to pay any money & that's not an option for us. If he is successful at any trials he will stay with us until the end of the season. He will then start his football career elsewhere, if he's successful."

If he does move on, whether to Liverpool or elsewhere, the Club will be able to command a transfer fee as he's under contract, thanks to the contributions from the "12th Man" campaign. How much of a help has the "12th Man" been to you?

"It's been very helpful with what we had to offer Danny to tie him to the Club with a contract,we wouldn't have been able to secure him to the Club without the "12th Man" input, any professional club could have come in, as we would have had no protection and anyone could have pinched him."

It was disappointing to lose last night at Merstham, after such a good win at Ramsgate at the weekend. Is fatigue setting in?

"Yes, possibly. The boys have a very busy month of March, which will really decide how the season turns out. i am looking at the possibility of looking at bringing in new bodies over the next seven dsys, as it is hard to play back to back, two games every week. I've been trying to keep the money offered from the "12th Man" campaign, until this stage of the season, hopefully the timing will be right to use it. I am so grateful to every single supporter who has contributed, whether large or small amounts, & hope you all continue to back it."

Since we last spoke about First Team matters we have reached the League Cup Final. Will this be as important as a League game, and what do you feel about the venue?

"Obviously Maidstone have the sort of pitch that we don't play on every week, but I'm not adverse to 4G type pitches, as most young players nowadays have grown up on those sort of surfaces. Once the game comes I can't ignore it, as it's not just another cup final. It will be a great night for the Club & the fans."

Sittingbourne come to Champion Hill on Saturday, another tough game, how are you preparing for it?

"I'll prepare for it the same as we always do! We know that they've done well over the season, and expect a tough game, where they won't give much away. We obviously want to win, especially at home. Nothing changes."

And finally, there are fifty fans from German 5th level side Altona 93 coming over, to support us on Saturday. What do you think they will make of our level of football?

" Hopefully they will be quite impressed. Some of the standard in our games this year has been very good, I don't know if they are professional or not, but fitness wise we might not be as strong, if they are. I'm sure they'll enjoy the game, and hopefully we'll get a in for them."
