Gyebi Signs To Bolster Defence

Gyebi Signs To Bolster Defence

23-year-old Jerry arrives from Hungerford Town

The Hamlet have signed centre-back Jerry Gyebi after the defender left Hungerford Town.

The 23-year-old played 36 times in the National League South for the Crusaders last season, scoring twice, although he was not able to help them survive the drop.

Prior to joining the Berkshire side, he enjoyed a successful spell with Enfield Town, where he played 44 times over two seasons, including forming a centre-back partnership with former Hamlet defender Marc Weatherstone in his first season.

Jerry has also played abroad in Slovenia and Sweden, as well as playing for Yeovil Town, Barnstaple Town and Poole Town.

"I'm excited to be here!" said Jerry. "Dulwich Hamlet are one of the biggest non-league clubs so when they come calling it is something you have to think about! It is a huge opportunity to play for a big club and a very big management team as well."

"I want to fight for promotion, Hakan and Terry have a brilliant track record of that, and I had a taste of that fight with Enfield a couple of seasons ago, and I loved that pressure and feeling of having to win every game."

"I remember seeing the stadium filled with fans last season and couldn't believe it, this was a crowd for Step 1 or League 2 games, so I can't wait to play in front of a large crowd."

"I feel that my height at 6'4" can be imposing and I just love to defend, I'm old-school in that I just want to do that, head the ball away and stop the ball from going in the back of my net!"

"Jerry is someone we knew of previously, he showed commitment and desire at Hungerford, he’s big, he’s strong and he’s quick," added Hakan.

"He’s still young and when we sat down with him and spoke about what he wants to do, he struck us as someone who will be up for the challenge this season."

"He’s going to be fresh and energetic and always has a smile on his face, and I’m sure the supporters are going to love him."

A big welcome to Champion Hill Jerry!
