Dulwich reached the Isthmian League Cup Final for the second time in 3 years with a penalty shoot out win over Thamesmead Town.

Dulwich and Thamesmead served up a highly entertaining semi-final which The Hamlet clinched with a 5-3 penalty shoot-out win after a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.

It was Thamesmead who had the better of the first half but they found Phil Wilson in fine form between the sticks for The Hamlet.

However, it was Dulwich who took the lead on 40 minutes when Daniel Carr was set free but having rounded the Mead keeper his shot was blocked and when the ball broke to Nyren Clunis his shot met the same fate.

Kershaney Samuels then returned the ball into the box with a cross shot that Daniel Carr converted into the roof of the net.

The second half was more even with chances at a premium but it was Thamesmead who grabbed the equaliser on 73 minutes when Rob Carter headed home an inswinging corner.

It took a brilliant save inside the last 10 minutes from Phil Wilson to preserve parity for The Hamlet before the final whistle signalled that the place in the final would be settled from 12 yards.

The first 7 penalties were a master class in spot kicks with neither keeper able to get close to saving one. For Dulwich Daniel Carr, Peter Adeniyi, Erhun Oztumer and Ellis Green who converted whilst Mead replied through Ashley Probets, Lewis Tozer and Stuart Zanone.

However, it was the Thamesmead keeper, Rob Budd, who was to decide the fate of the tie as he stepped up to take the fourth kick and struck the post.

It was left to youth team player, Richmond Ayoola, to step up and confidently convert the fifth Hamlet kick to book their place in the final against Premier League high fliers Concord Rangers.
