Hamlet Legend Everitt Passes Away

Hamlet Legend Everitt Passes Away

The Club regrets to announce the passing of John Everitt, one of the Hamlet’s finest post-war players.

John made 315 First Team appearances for the Club and scored 177 goals, only the great Tommy Jover has netted more for Dulwich Hamlet since the Second World War. He scored seven hat-tricks, and again only Tommy Jover has netted more trebles for the Club since the war.

John was a strong and well-built centre-forward who packed a powerful shot and during his long career he gained representative honours for London FA, Surrey FA and the Isthmian League. He made his First Team debut in season 1951/52 and was twice our leading scorer, in seasons 1954/55 and 1956/57. He retired in 1967, serving the Reserves and ‘A’ Team during his latter years when he passed on the benefit of his vast experience to the younger players.

The Club sends its sincere condolences to his widow, Maureen, and family and friends.

John’s funeral will be held at Hither Green Crematorium next Wednesday, 8th May, at 1:30pm.
