Harrow Borough 3-1 Dulwich Hamlet
The Hamlet produced a disappointing display and can have few complaints about the result
Dulwich travelled without keeper Phil Wilson and left back Ahmed Deen, both unavailable. Paul Idem deputised in goal with Ryan James coming in at left back, whilst Ethan Pinnock was preferred to Billy Crook in midfield.
Roared on by a large and vociferous away support Dulwich opened the game in confident style and it was no surprise when they took the lead. Ellis Green delivered an inch perfect cross that Erhun Oztumer headed on goal. Harrow keeper Tokarczyk could only parry the ball into the air and Nyren Clunis rose highest to head the rebound home.
Dulwich looked in total control at this stage and it seemed only a matter of time before they added a second. However, from a throw in deep in their own half, Ryan James and Ethan Pinnock managed to present the ball to a Harrow forward who moved into the box. The resulting pull back could still have been cleared but could only be stabbed to the edge of the box where Shaun Lucien smashed the ball past Paul Idem in the Hamlet net.
Half time arrived with the scores level but Dulwich could not establish a dominance after half time and it took a fine block from the advancing Idem to keep the scores level.
Ryan James did not reappear after half time with Billy Crook coming on as his replacement.
The goal that put Harrow ahead was the result of a deflection as Jordan Berry's shot looped over the helpless Idem. Once again the goal was a result of poor defending as Dulwich failed to clear their lines properly after breaking up a Harrow attack.
Ian Daly was unlucky to slip after he brilliantly turned the centre half on the edge of the six yard box and Kevin James whistled a shot just wide of the post.
Dulwich introduced new signing Marcel Henry-Francis, signed this week and previously with QPR and Birmingham City, who forced a good save from Tokarczyk at his near post and Peter Adeniyi volleyed a cross wide when he perhaps should have extended the keeper.
It was Adeniyi who spurned a great chance to level matters as Ellis Green delivered a superb left footed cross but somehow he managed to head wide from no more than four yards out with the keeper well beaten.
It perhaps summed up the day that Harrow were to get a third goal some 3 minutes into stoppage time saw Marcel Barrington convert a low cross.
