HEAR THE YOUNG LIONS ROAR AT CHAMPION HILL THIS AFTERNOON

HEAR THE YOUNG LIONS ROAR AT CHAMPION HILL THIS AFTERNOON

Dulwich Hamlet continue their preseason preparations with the visit of Millwall today.

Champion Hill welcomes our near neighbours from Bermondsey as they face up against a Millwall squad drawn from the cream of the Lions’ future talent. Down the years the Millwall Academy has provided a steady stream of new talent for Neil Harris’ senior squad with young players like Ben Thompson, Jordan Archer, Aiden O'Brien, Fred Onyedinma and Sid Nelson all making a strong impact.

The current intake certainly proves just as determined to make its mark. At the end of last season Millwall offered professional contracts to five Academy graduates with a number of these successful youngsters part of the squad for this afternoon’s game. James Brown, Noah Chesmain, Harry Girling, Harry Donovan and Rian Bray were all been informed of the club's intention to extend their stay at The Den. Of the quintet James Brown drew high praise for his performance in Tuesday night’s preseason victory over Dartford. A team comprised of Academy products and Elite Development Squad players played the final half-hour of Tuesday's pre-season friendly at princes Park, helping The Lions record a comfortable 3-0 victory. First team manager Harris reserved special praise for young Brown’s performance in defence but insisted none should get carried away too early.

Also expect to see the imposing figure of gangling striker Harry Smith making an appearance for the visitors at some time during this afternoon’s contest. Fans of a certain age may find themselves casting their minds back to the time when a certain Peter Crouch wore the Pink and Blue! A towering sight at six foot six inches, Smith caught the eye of a number of clubs last season after scoring eleven goals in ten games for Folkestone Invicta as the Kent side marched to the Ryman South championship. Smith had a spiel on trial at Aberdeen and also found himself followed by Gillingham but it is the Lions who had taken the chance to run the rule over the youngster.

This afternoon’s game kicks off at 3.00 pm at Champion Hill Stadium, Edgar Kail Way, East Dulwich, London SE22 8BD.

The turnstiles will be open from approximately 12.45 pm with refreshment facilities available in the ground for early arrivals. Avoid the late rush and chill out enjoying a drink or snack in our cosy clubhouse with live sport on the big screens, conveniently situated just a short walk from the turnstiles?
