Here's the local news round-up from this week
All the coverage from our two local newspapers...
On Tuesday the midweek edition of the 'South London Press' focussed on our win on Saturday:
Dulwich keep pace at th top with victory over Grays
Dulwich Hamlet kept their slim Ryman League Premier Division title hopes alive with a hard-fought 2-0 home win over Grays Athletic on Saturday.
Second-half goals from substitute Albert Jarrett and Xavier Vidal earnd Gavin Rose's side the spoils at Champion Hill-but they were made to work hard for.
A poor playing surface made flowing football difficult, and Grays were aggrieved at the award of the first goal, with Serge Makoto lying on the floor in an offside position on the goal-line and possibly impeding visiting goalkeeper Conor Gough as Jarrett smashed in a rebound.
Vidal's effort that sealed the win in the 81st minute also came on the rbound, when Gough spilled Jarrett's shot at his feet, leaving the midfielder to round the keeper and finish.
On Thursday, in the weekly 'Southwark News', Gavin spoke about the Grays victory:
Rose thinks patience was key to Grays win
Hamlet boss Gavin Rose praised his sides patience as they overcame a determined Grays Athletic at Champion Hill on Saturday.
Two second half efforts from Albert Jarrett and Xavier Vidal were enough to secure Dulwich the three points as they continued to keep the pressure on leaders Maidstone United.
But Hamlet, who sit in second spot in the Ryman Premier League, were made to work hard by the Essex side.
Rose told the News: "I think Grays set up well and defended well and we had to be patient as it was difficult to play through them, or get in behind them. They set up to play on the break and it did cause us a few problems. But the boys were patient and we know a lot of games could be like this for us now, so we are willing to wait until the last minute to get the winner if that is what it takes."
With Hamlet now in the thick of ap ush for top spot, and automatic promotion, Rose thinks his side should expect plenty of teams to set up as Grays did at the weekend.
The Dulwich boss added: "We are now playing to a standard, and that was not happening earlier in the season, where teams respect us and that is because of the way we have been playing. So we have been working on breaking teams down who play in blocks and being patient and we saw that on Saturday."
Hamlet currently sit in second spot in the Ryman Premier League, four points behind leaders Maidstone but have completed two more fixtures.
Third placed Margate are also currently within touching distance of the leaders, although Maidstone have a six point advantage over their Kent rivals.
The 'Southwark News' also featured the excellent work being done by the "12th Man" scheme:
12th Man help Rose reinforce squad
A fans funded scheme at Dulwich has enabled gaffer Gavin Rose to bring in two strikers to help Hamlet secure automatic promotion.
Only the team in top spot in the Ryman Premier League will be guaranteed a place at the next level of the non-league ladder, and Rose hopes Serge Makofo and Mu Maan will bring the goals to secure that target.
The frontmen's stay in East Dulwich will be funded by the 12th Man Scheme, a programme where Hamlet fans give donations in order to help with player purchases and wages.
Speaking about 28-year-old Makofo, who scored on his debut in a Pink and Blue jersey, Rose said: "Serge has come to us from Whitehawk, where he hasn't really been playing, and needs to work on his fitness because of that. He is somebody who offers us a change of pace up front and a bit of know how. He is a player who loves getting goals and other players can see that and will feed off that, it was great for him to get off the mark in his first game last week."
Mann is likely to have more of an impact towards the end of the season, provided he can get his fitness levels up.
Rose added: "Mu Maan has been around for a while but we need to work on his fitness. We want him to be playing reserve and friendly fixtures and if his fitness comes together he could give us something different. He is somebody who plays off the cuff and takes the game by the scruff of the neck so he could be good for us."
The 12th man fund has also helped with the cash needed to secure left-back Fraser Shaw who has been a mainstay of the Hamlet first eleven this campaign.
The third and final feature in this week's 'Southwark News' was about our anti-homophobia friendly with Stonewall next Wednesday, the 11th of February:
Hamlet take on Gay World Champs
Dulwich Hamlet will take on gay football world champions Stonewall FC in a high profile friendly next Wednesday.
The game is part of a campaign to actively create a terrace environment where all are welcome, and the night will also double as a charity fundraiser for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
In addition to the game Dulwich will also be providing free tickets to LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) fans for the Hamlet league home game against Metropolitan Police on February 21.
Manager Gavin Rose told the News he did not hesitate to put out a side when the friendly was suggested.
He added: "We were happy to agree to this game. It fits in with the ethos of the club in that we include everyone in the community. We had a day fro Southwark Foodbank last weekend and we have had a Kick It Out day earlier this season. It is good for us to get involved in games like this and we don't want anybody to feel excluded from our club."
The fixture has come together thanks to the work of the club committee, Stonewall FC and the Hamlet Supporters' Trust.
Duncan Hart from the Trust said: "We are really looking forward to this friendly. It is a clear commitment from the club that we are committed to inclusion and making Champion Hill a welcoming place for everyone. It's proff that the Trust and Fare funded anti-homophobia banner behind the goal at the car wash end is not just tokenism, but something we are living up to."
The game will be co-sponsored by the Southwark Branch of the UNISON and the Hope not Hate campaign group.
The game kicks off at 7.30pm and entrance is at the reduced rates of £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
To conclude this week's round-up of the local papers we feature yesterday's weekend edition of the 'South London Press'. here's what they printed in their non-league column:
Maan brings a Mu hope
New Dulwich Hamlet attacker Mu Maan could spring a few surprises on the opposition this season according to boss Gavin Rose.
Maan joined the club at the same time as Serge Makofo, with both signings funded by the club's 12th-man scheme, which has raised over £20,000 and helped bring in 15 players since its inception in 2011.
He has had a previous spell at Dulwich, in 2011, and played at Metropolitan Police and Leatherhead before rejoining the Champion Hill side from Bognor regis.
And Rose feels he could play a key role by providing that little bit of magic that can make the difference in tight games.
"Mu is a very good player," he said. "He can do things other people don't always think of, which can unlock the door for us when we are short of ideas. We have a good squad now and we are optimistic about the run-in."
Dulwich are at home to 17th-placed Canvey Island in the Ryman League Premier Division tomorrow.
