Here's this weeks local newspaper round-up

All the news from our local papers for you...

We start, on Tuesday, with the headline leading the midweek edition of the 'South London Press' that Gavin Rose was not impressed with the manner of our defeat in the FA Trophy last Saturday:

Police errors earn Dulwich players fines

Seething Dulwich Hamlet boss Gavin Rose will issue fines to his team this week for two set-piece errors that led to their FA Trophy second qualifying round exit against Metropolitan Police on Saturday.
The South Londoners had the better of the play at Imber Court but failed to convert that into victory and went down 2-0 to two free-kicks.
The first saw Stuart Sutherland react quickest to the ball rebounding off the post following a free-kick delivery on 33 minutes. Then Rob Bartlrey was left unmarked at the far post to double the Met's lead just before half-time.
The Champion Hill outfit did control the match throughout the 90 minutes, though, with Ashley Carew (from a free-kick) and Jordan Hibbert stinging the plams of Police keeper Stuart Searle before the opening goal. But it was the manner of their defending that left Rose furious and vowing to financially punish the 11 players on the pitch at the time the goals were scored.
"It's not the first time we've made mistakes like that and we've spoken about it all season," Rose said. "We can't accept mistakes like that and we give the opposition such good opportunities in the box. The boys need to realise they aren't paying enough attention so we have to take some measures. It shouldn't be hard to protect your goal from that sort of situation. The players get bonuses for wins so when they lose through mistakes like that they should be punished in equal measure. It's so disappointing to go out in that manner, especially because the focus was so high at Maidstone last week but it was so low on Saturday. We are a team so everyone is accountable."
One positive for Dulwich was the return to the bench for striker Harry Ottaway. He missed virtually all of last season with a broken leg, and injured the same limb earlier this season, with the pins in inserted after the orginal injury preventing another break.

Yesterday the weekly 'Southwark News' also concentrated on our FA Trophy defeat:

POLICE ESCORT HAMLET OUT OF CUP

Dulwich were dumped out of the FA Trophy on Saturday after two first half goals saw Metropolitan Police overcome Hamlet at Imber Court.
The Champion Hill side dominated the possession stats but could not convert that into goals on the day.
That included a first half penalty miss from Ashley Carew, when Dulwich were a goal behind, that summed up a bad day at the office for the Pink and Blues.
Goals from Steve Sutherland and Rob Bartley were enough for the Met to progress.
Speaking after the game Dulwich boss Gavin Rose said: "We had some bad luck before the game started on Saturday in that Bagasan Graham was involved in a car accident and Omar Koroma was late for kick off. So it seemed like it would be one of those days from the start. Like our previous game against the Met in the league we had large spells of possession but did not create lots of opportunities to score."
He added: "We looked particularly dangerous in the first fifteen minutes and did not make the most of it. They hit us on the break and did what they had to do to win. That was what we did not do. We had all the possession but didn't do what we needed to win. So we need to concentrate on that, making sure we do do what we have too to get results."
The result came on the back of a pulsating league contest against Maidstone United at the Gallagher Stadium last Wednesday.
An exciting game ended 1-1 with skipper Terrell Forbes netting for Hamlet before Jay May equalised just before the hour mark for the Kent side.
But keeper Phil Wilson was the star of the show for Dulwich with a brilliant display between the sticks.
A number of high level stops were topped when he saved a Frannie Collin penalty in the final ten minutes.
Forbes was sent off due to a foul that led to the spot kick but a valiant Dulwich held on for a point against one of the Ryman Premier League favourites.

The 'Southwark News' also caught up with news of our recent additions to our team:

Rose bolsters squad with trio of signings

Gavin Rose has brought in three players to his Dulwich Hamlet squad as he seeks to find the goals that will push his side towards promotion.
Midfielder Jack Dixon has come in from Lewes FC, whilst another midfielder Albert Jarrett and striker Omar Koroma have also agreed to come and ply their trade at Champion Hill.
Whilst Hamlet have not had a bad campaign, they are in fifth position in the Ryman Premier League after Saturday's results, they have not been as free scoring as in recent seasons.
Currently midfielder Xavier Vidal leads the scoring stats at Dulwich and rose hopes that the players who have come in will help make Hamlet's possession based football more potent.
The Hamlet manager told the News: "They are all guys who have that bit more experience and will be more streetwise and have that know how. Added to that they are all good players too."
He added: "All three of them will give us something in the last third in terms of a goal threat. It may not happen straight away but over time we will be looking for them to make a difference to us."
Dixon is likely to play a more prominent role initially, as he has been an active member of the Lewes set up this campaign, in the Hamlet first team whilst the other two new faces will be given time to reacclimatise themselves to senior football after periods of inactivity.
Rose said: "Jarrett and Koroma have not played a lot recently so it may be a case of throwing them in from time to time to get them up to speed. Dixon has played regularly and he is somebody who has always played well against us so we are really looking forward to working with him."

And so onto this mornings weekend edition of the 'South London Press':

Punishment went down fine

Gavin Rose is encouraged by Dulwich Hamlet's reaction to criticism of their defending in last weekend's FA Trophy defeat to Metropolitan Police.
The Champion Hill outfit conceded from two free-kicks and Rose fined his players for their repeated failings from set-pieces.
"The guys have held their hands up and taken full responsibility," Rose said. "We'll see how we deal with them tomorrow."
Dulwich visit 19th-placed Harrow Borough in the Ryman League Premier Division. The South Londoners are fifth in the table, but could move up a place if they come home with all three points.
"We beat them 3-2 at the start of the season but I thought they were a talented team," Rose said. "It will be tough away from home but with the run we've been on we really need the three points."
