HORSHAM 1-4 DULWICH HAMLET
Dulwich returned to winning ways and closed within 3 points of leaders Maidstone United with a comfortable win on a very heavy pitch at Horsham.
It took just over 30 seconds for The Hamlet to establish the lead as Erhun Oztumer found Ellis Green whose cross was headed home by Nyren Clunis.
It then took two good saves from the home keeper to keep Horsham in the game as he thwarted Conor French on both occasions.
However, after the first 10 minutes Horsham worked their way into the game and were on top for long periods without over extending Phil Wilson in the Dulwich goal.
However, if the latter stages of the first half had been poor then Dulwich put the game to bed early in the second half.
Nyren Clunis broke clear but put his shot wide whilst being scythed down from behind in the penalty area. Amazingly, the referee did not think that this challenge was worthy of any sanction.
However, almost immediately afterwards, Conor French got away down the right and when the keeper could only parry his cross Erhun Oztumer headed home. It was soon 3-0 as Ellis Green tormented the Horsham left back and found the onrushing Conor French who slammed home.
Dulwich immediately introduced the rested Daniel Carr and also brought on Frankie Sawyer for Conor French and Nyren Clunis.
However, sloppy defending gave Horsham a route back in when Ahmed Deen needlessly brought down a Horsham forward just inside the box with little sign of danger. Although Phil Wilson stopped the penalty he was unable to hold it and the penalty taker followed in to put away the rebound.
Following this, Dulwich re-established their dominance as Frankie Sawyer somehow failed to register a goal. The keeper saved his left foot shot inside the near post, he then hit a post with a shot from the edge of the box and spurned a chance at the far post; shooting over when well placed.
It was Daniel Carr who headed home the 4th as Ellis Green once again got the better of the left back and sttod up a cross to the far post where Carr rose above three static defenders to power a free header home.
That was the extent of the scoring as Dulwich comfortably collected the three points on offer to move within 3 of the leaders.
