Huge Coup As Parry Reunites With Hak
Manny Parry adds further defensive strength in major signing for the Hamlet.
The Hamlet have pulled off yet another major signing this summer by bringing in defender Manny Parry.
The 29-year-old was on the books at Welling United last season, and has played 167 times in the National League throughout his career, with a further 110 in the National League South.
Manny worked under Hakan during the 2016-17 season whilst at Braintree Town, and even scored against the Hamlet in the memorable victory we enjoyed here in the FA Trophy that year.
After leaving that summer, Manny enjoyed successful spells at Dover Athletic, Boreham Wood, Woking and Maidenhead United in the top tier of non-league football, before playing 41 league games at Park View Road with Welling last season.
"It's great to be here!' said Manny. "I'm a local boy so I've always known about the club and how big it is and its fanbase, I am really glad."
"I've played the majority of my games in the National League and National League South, and I got a call from Dumebi to put me back in touch with Hak and it was great to hear from him again, from then on it was a no-brainer to be here."
"He's a demanding guy but it all comes from a positive place, he wants to win, he's passionate and the more I've matured, the more I have understood that."
"I've played against a lot of these boys in the past and they look sharp, the ground here is excellent with huge support, the training pitches are great, plus the new gym has added even better facilities."
"I think I am a proper defender, looking to organise and be robust and strong in both penalty areas, and hopefully chip in with a few goals."
"I am incredibly happy to get Manny into the club," added Hakan. "He's someone who has played over 100 games in the National League and he's played for me at Braintree."
"Once again, he is someone with a brilliant personality, which I have said all summer is really important for us to succeed, he has everything in his game that I think we need."
"People will look at how many centre-backs we have, but I told the Chairman that although we've recruited well in that department, you simply cannot let an opportunity like this go by when someone as good as Manny is available, what an unbelievable signing he is."
