In the local press this week...

What the local newspapers have been talking about...

There was only a brief mention in the midweek edition of the 'South London Press' on Tuesday, due to a blank weekend for us:

The weekly copy of the 'Southwark News', on sale yesterday, covered that Bury Town match:

McCoulsky's double Bury's Town

A brace of goals from striker Shawn McCoulsky saw Hamlet easily brush aside Bury Town at Champion Hill on Tuesday evening.
Dulwich had sat out last weekend proceedings, as their proposed opponents were playing in the FA Cup, and it was hoped it would help ease the lengthy injury list at Champion Hill.
It allowed enough time for winger Nyren Clunis to return to the starting line up but was not enough for keeper Phil Wilson, with Oshane Brown deputising once again between the sticks.
On the night it only took three minutes for McCoulsky to open his account and just past the half hour mark he had notched his second goal of the evening.
By the break Hamlet had put the game to bed as the in form Xavier Vidal netted once again, this time a special effort from distance.
That ended the scoring in the contest but those first half efforts were enough to stretch Dulwich's unbeaten run to four games, three of those being victories.
The win leaves the Pink and Blues in fourth spot in the Ryman Premier League which is still headed by Maidstone United, who have a nine point advantage over Hamlet.
At Dulwich's next home game, on Saturday October 11 against Bognor Regis Town, the club are offering free entry to students as part of a new initiative.
The free taster is part of a wider plan the club has to consistently achieve home crowds of more than 1,000 people.

Meanwhile today's weekend 'South London Press' featured our improvement of recent form:

Dulwich philosophy has returned at last

Dulwich Hamlet have finally got their mojo back according to manager Gavin Rose.
The South Londoners strolled to the most comfortable of 3-0 victories against Bury Town in a one-sided contest at Champion Hill on Tuesday and remain fourth in the Ryman League Premier Division.
Dulwichare fourth but nine points behind leaders Maidstone United.
All three goals came in a relentless first half, with teenager Shawn McCoulsky getting a brace and man of the moment Xavier Vidal unleashing a 25-yard screamer past Bury keeper Marcus Garnham for his fourth in three games.
Fast and creative attacking play overwhelmed the away side in the first half and assured victory for the promotion chasers- a display Rose feels represented the club and its philosophy to the highest standard.
"We are improving week by week and the culture in the dressing room is more reminiscent to what we know and have built up," he said. "The players are starting to understand what it is all about. We hope to have more ups than downs in the season, but it is important that we continue in the same vein we showed on Tuesday. The performance is a lot closer to where we want to be. Our team had a format to utilise the pace and trickery that had up front and that put them on the back foot and meant we had more control of the game."
Dulwich made a dream start as the impressive McCoulsky ran onto a through-ball, skipped past the last defender and placed a delicate chip over Marcus Garnham in the third minute.
It was 2-0 in the 24th minute. Frazer Shaw made an inviting run deep from Hamlet's half to the Bury byline, waiting for his team-mates to reach the penalty area, before delivering a pinpoint centre across goal, where McCoulsky waswaiting to tap into an empty net on the volley-his third in three games since his debut.
If the home side didn't already have the game in the bag,the contest was settled with Hamlet's third. Vidal wasn't far from the left touchline when he launched an unstoppable effort from nearly 30 yards that flew past the dispairing dive of Garnham into the top right-hand corner.
" Xavier's scored a few goals like that in the past sp ,aybe we're a bit lucky because we've seen a few of those," said Rose. " He's got a lot of quality around the box and goals like that are things that this club has become accustomed to seeing. Young Shawn McCoulsky also took both his goals well. With the first one he's running behind and finished it well, and the second was a poacher's goal."
Dulwich could have netted more goals in the second half, but two Nyren Clunis efforts were blocked emphatically by Garnham. With the game all but over as a contest, they took their foot off the gas and allowed Bury to gain some momentum in the second half. Only a world class save from Hamlet keeper Oshane Brown from point-blank range prevented a Bury consolation near the end.
Dulwich travel to Canvey Island's Park Lane home tomorrow.
