In the local press this week
Here's our round up from our two local newspapers over the last few days
The coverage began, on Tuesday, in the midweek copy of the 'South London Press':
Back in business
Dulwich Hamlet are finally back to winning ways in the Ryman League Premier Division after heading home from Harrow Borough with a 3-1 victory.
Jack Dixon gave the South Londoners the lead with a debut goal, firing in Carew's corner after the latter had his shot turned behind.
Nyren Clunis doubled the lead on 56 minutes, with Omar Koroma netting his first senior goal on the rebound to make the game safe with just under 20 minutes remaining. Greg Ngoyi pulled back a consolation in the final ten minutes.
A further positive for Gavin Rose' men was welcoming back Harry Ottaway as a substitute for the first time since his injury.
Dulwich could replace Leiston in fourth if they win at East Thurrock United tonight.
On Thursday, in the weekly 'Southwark News', one of our new signings claimed the headline, with his first goal for the Club:
Dixon nets on Hamlet debut
Hamlet new boy Jack Dixon netted on his debut for the club as Hamlet ran out easy winners in north London on Saturday.
Dixon, who came in from Lewes FC, put in an assured display in centre midfield and topped it with Hamlet's opener on Saturday when he stroked home a controlled drive on nineteen minutes.
In a game Dulwich dominated anything less than three points would have been a travesty for the Pink and Blues.
But keeper Oshane Brown pulled off a top save just before half-time to ensure Dulwich maintained a lead at the break.
The second killer goal came when Nyren Clunis netted and another new boy, Omar Koroma, scored from close ranged eighteen minutes from time to kill off any remote hopes Harrow had.
A late consolation from Borough's Gregory Ngoyi did little to tarnish an impressive display from Hamlet. That was a sentiment manager Gavin Rose agreed with after the game. He said: "We managed the game well and we controlled the game with lots of possession of the ball. We also looked dangerous and it was a good performance and it was a game where we could have scored more goals than we did."
He added: "We attacked at the right time and managed everything well. Our whole approach play was good and it allowed us to put players in the final third of the pitch in good positions, and that allowed us to be more of a goal threat."
On Tuesday night against East Thurrock United the Pink and Blues were denied another three points when Paul Goodacre scored three minutes from time to snatch a point for the Essex side.
Clunis opened the scoring for Hamlet on the night before Sam Higgins levelled from the spot. Dulwich fans had reason to smile as Harry Ottaway got on the scoresheet, his first goal since returning from long term injury, before the late equaliser that saw the game end 2-2.
The same copy of the 'Southwark News' also exclusively informed both Dulwich fans and the official Hamlet website contributors that one player was on his way...
Graham exit opens doors for Hamlet young guns
The release of striker Bagasan Graham could open the door for other young frontmen to make their name at Champion Hill, manager Gavin Rose told the News this week.
Graham has been unable to make himself a permanent fixture in the Dulwich first eleven and boss Rose has decided to dispense of his services.
But whilst Graham may have missed his chance Rose believes two teenagers in particular could be ready to fill the gap, and more, that Graham has left.
The Hamlet boss said: "He [Graham] has had so few games and has not got a run of form going which has been unfortunate for him. He is one of the senior players and that also costs us a bit more too. The twelfth man scheme have been helping to pay for him and we really need him to be playing more to justify the extra money. We also have Kyan Nicholas and Shawn McCoulsky coming through and being youth team players they are not as costly."
Nicholas made his first team debut on Saturday when he came on as a substitute against Harrow Borough. Rose told the News that he was delighted was delighted with his progress.
He said: "I was really pleased Kyan Nicholas came on and made his debut. He has done really well for the youth team and it was good to see him come on for the first team."
He added: "We have no planned direction with him. He is doing well with the youth team and that is good in itself and we are happy with that. He will play in the reserves this week and may be part of the first team squad and anything he does above youth team level will be a bonus."
And so to the last report of the week, from today's weekend edition of the 'South London Press':
Ottaway return so nearly pays dividends as Dulwich draw
Dulwich Hamlet host Kingstonian in the Ryman League Premier Division tomorrow.
The Champion Hill side missed the chance to go fourth in the table on Tuesday night when they drew 2-2 at East Thurrock United.
Nyren Clunis bundled home from close range to put the visitors in front at the break but Sam Higgins equalised five minutes into the second half.
Harry Ottaway was introduced on the hour mark for his first appearance since re-injuring his leg, and he marked his return in the best possible fashion when he unleashed a shot from the edge of the area to put his side back in front just eight minutes into his comeback.
With six minutes to go, Ottaway cracked an effort against the crossbar that would surely have sealed the points for Dulwich. But instead it rallied East Thurrock and Paul Goodacre headed an equaliser with 87 minutes on the clock.
(Hamlet website note: As you can see, from the 'SLP' piece on Tuesday, Harry Ottaway made his comeback on Saturday, from the bench at Harrow Borough, so they made a bit of an error in their Friday report!)
