In the papers this week

Here is our weekly round up of all things Hamlet from our local newspapers

On Tuesday the midweek edition of the 'South London Press' led with a Hamlet headline:

Carew goal earns Hamlet the points

Dulwich Hamlet made it five games unbeaten with victory at Canvey Island in the Ryman Premier League on Saturday.
Xavier Vidal fired Gavin Rose's men in front after four minutes and Ashley Carew secured the points in the second half after John Sands had levelled the contest.
The result consolidated Dulwich's position in fourth spot and they host Thamesmead Town this evening.

Yesterday's weekly copy of the 'Southwark News' also headlined with the same game:

HAMLET PLUNDER POINTS FROM ISLAND

Hamlet stretched their unbeaten run in the Ryman Premier League to five games after defeating Canvey Island 2-1 on Saturday.
The hard fought win in tough conditions over the Essex outfit came courtesy of an early effort from Xavier Vidal, his fifth goal in four games, which was cancelled out by a second half goal from Canvey's John Sands.
A free kick converted by Ashley Carew, with the help of a goalkeeping error from ex-Hamlet youngster Tim Brown, three minutes later ensured Dulwich went home with all three points.
Hamlet manager Gavin Rose said after the game: "We were good in the first half in that we kept the ball well and we that good that we perhaps should have taken more of the opportunities that came our way. The second half was more competitive and they came back into the game and they got a goal back but we were good in that we responded to that well, got a goal ahead again and held out to the end."
A more settled line up in recent weeks has seen inconsistent form pick up and Rose thinks things can only improve as the treatment room slowly empties.
The Hamlet boss added: "The reason we have been disjointed has been down to injuries mainly rather than anything else, and we have never had the chance to select a settled starting line up. We still have other people to come back from injury so we will fo from there once they return."
On Tuesday night Dulwich made it through to the second round of the London County Cup after they defeated Thamesmead Town 1-0 at Champion Hill.

The 'Southwark News' also exclusively broke a story about one of our Youth Team graduates:

McCoulsky signs contract terms at Hamlet

Teenage striker Shawn McCoulsky is the latest young talent to sign contract terms at Champion Hill.
The seventeen-year-old put pen to paper just two days after his brace of goals against Bury Town last Tuesday.
But Hamlet manager Gavin Rose told the News that the move was not merely to ensure Dulwich pick up a fee should professional scouts come hunting for his signature.
Rose said: "He is sventeen and is in the first team and it makes sense to put him on a contract for the future."
He added: "Nyren Clunis has been on a contract since he was seventeen and he has given us really good service. We have also had other players on a contract since they were seventeen, such as Ethan Pinncok, so it's not just about what is going to happen in terms of professional clubs. The contract is about investing in them in both the short and long term and not just a sign of us saying it's time to deliver now, it's more to say we are backing you long term so that can rest assured they will get another opportunity should they need it."

Our special Student Day for tomorrow was also highlighted:

Free entry for Students at Dulwich

Dulwich Hamlet are offering free entry to students for Saturday's game against Bognor Regis Town at Champion Hill.
In addition to the offer the Hamlet Supporters' Trust will also be supporting FARE's 'week of action' by launching an anti-homophobia banner at the game.
A club spokesman saod: "The aim is to give new and returning students to the area a chance to experience a game at Champion Hill. We hope all new fans on the day will be mesmerised by the flair of the Hamlet on the pitch, and the noisy and welcoming Rabble on the terraces."
Dulwich Hamlet Chairman Jack Payne added: "There are many students living in the area around the football club, so we hope that many of them come and take advantageof the offer to visit Champion Hill for free, and of course return for other exciting games this season."
The Supporters Trust will be marking the day by launching a new anti-homophobia banner. This will be a permanent addition to the collection of flags behind the goal at Champion Hill.
Duncan Hart, spokesman for the Trust Board, said: "We are delighted to support FARE's action week. We are keen to ensure all of our community feel weclome at Champion Hill. Wehave decided to mark the day by launching a large anti-homophobia banner, alongside our friends from Altona 93 in Germany."

Today's weekend edition of the 'South London Press' focussed on our midweek League Cup win over Thamesmead Town, with young goalie Oshane Brown getting the plaudits:

KEEPER STARS
Young stopper makes the difference for Gavin Rose's men

Dulwich Hamlet boss Gavin Rose believes their 1-0 London Senior Cup victory over Thamesmead Town was a great lesson for his younger players.
Hamlet made five changes from the side that beat Canvey Island at the weekend, replacing the likes of Xavier Vidal and Ashley Carew with academy products. The youngster's struggled at times and were thankful for a 48th-minute own goal ro see them through, along with a fine performance from Hamlet stopper Oshane Brown. But Rose says that a run-out for the senior team should stand his kids in good stead.
"There was a lot of enthusiasm and energy in the side but probably not as much cohesion as usual." Rose said. "That's to be expected because of the changes we made in the team. But it's always good to give young players the opportunity, to know where they are in terms of their development. It was clear that, because of the changes to the side, we didn't really know how to be effective in the game. Thamesmead had more experience in their line-up and players who have been there and done it a little bit. They knew how to influence things."
Dulwich found it difficult to provide in-form striker Shawn McCoulsky with service throughout the evening.
They went in front on 48 minutes. Thamesmead centre-back Callum MacNaughton had a swipe at a loose throw-in and the ball flew behind him, over his goalkeeper and into the net. At the other end, Brown was rarely tested but excelled in the final 10 minutes. First, he batted away a fierce drive from Rashid Kamara, and then reacted quickly to block Leslie Thompson's goal-bound effort.
Rose commended the performance of his young goalkeeper as the 19-year-old recorded his second clean sheet from his last three outings. An injury to first-choice Phil Wilson has allowed Brown to emerge, an opportunity he has taken with aplomb. "Oshane was the difference," he said. "He had a man-of-the-match performance. He's come through our academy and we are very proud of him and happy with his progress. We hope that he can continue to be concentrated on his performances and continue to work hard."
Dulwich host Bognor Regis Town in the Ryman Premier League tomorrow afternoon.

The 'South London Press' also gave a plug to our Student Day initiative:

Students will get free admission to Dulwich's Ryman Premier League clash with Bognor Regis tomorrow.
The free entry is designed to boost the club's attendances in the long run.
The club's Supporters Trust is launching a new anti-homophobia banner at the game, as part of FARE's 'week of action'.
