More news on the latest injuries & results from the only local paper devoted EXCLUSIVELY to the London Borough of Southwark
The latest edition came out today, 40 pence from all local newsagents, & here is what they had to say on The Hamlet:
Sawyer joins queue in Hamlet treatment roomLast season’s top scorer Frankie Sawyer is the latest Dulwich player to pick up a knock leaving manager Gavin Rose admitting his squad is stretched due to injuries his players have acquired.
Sawyer has hit the target four times this campaign but pulled a groin in the London Senior Cup win on Tuesday evening against Erith Town.
Two goals from Erhun Öztümer plus efforts from Taylor Thomas, Xavier Vidal and Daniel Carr easily saw off the Kent Hurlimann Premier Division leaders but the game also results in another spell on the side-lines for Sawyer.
The victory came on the back of a weekend league win over Ryman League South basement side Walton Casuals with Carr and Lewis Gonsalves bagging second half goals to secure three points.
The greatest concern Rose has at the moment is the injuries his small squad are picking up as Sawyer joins Josh Turner (ankle). Ahmed Deen (broken leg), Ellis Green (ankle), Jide Ogunbote (recurrence of old injury) and Tony Sinclair (knee) on the treatment table.
He said, “We have not had much luck with injuries but it is just something that we have to get on with. We have a small squad and that obviously has an impact on us so I have had to call up some of the boys from the reserves. Perhaps I have done that earlier than I would have liked but they have also brought a breath of fresh air to the first team with their approach and enthusiasm. We saw that against Walton Casuals and it is something I welcome to the team.”
Rose denied he has brought in former Leatherhead striker Mu Maan to Champion Hill to bolster his injury ravaged first team squad, but he was keen to single out one of his team for special praise.
Rose told the News, “I have to say Kershaney Samuels has impressed me with his showings in the first team. He did well to earn his place in the squad at the start of the season and when he plays he impresses with his attitude and approach to the game.”
