“IT’S GREAT OOP NORTH” AS DANNY CARR SPEAKS TO THE HUDDERSFIELD EXAMINER
Looking ahead to the new season Daniel Carr revealed his excitement about working with Mark Robins after Reading rejection and his move from Dulwich
Speaking to the Huddersfield Examiner, new signing Daniel Carr said he could not wait for the chance to reignite his professional football career.
Rejected by Championship rivals Reading after coming through their academy, he was transformed from a winger to a striker by Dulwich Hamlet boss Gavin Rose last season – and has not looked back.
Now he’s looking forward to working with former top-flight frontman Mark Robins, who beat off competition from a string of clubs to sign the £50,000 teenager on a two-year deal (Town have the option to add a further 12 months).
Carr will join up with his new Huddersfield Town teammates when they return for pre-season on June 27.
“After speaking to the manager and the chairman at Huddersfield, I didn’t need much persuading to sign,” said the 19-year-old, who banged in 29 goals to help Hamlet win promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division, bringing interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool as well as Town’s second-tier rivals Charlton and Leeds.
“There is a lot of ambition, the training ground and stadium are impressive and I believe the manager will really help me develop. Signing just felt the right thing to do.
“Gavin Rose and all the people at Dulwich were fantastic with me, as were the supporters, and I left on good terms and having helped them win promotion, which was important to me.
“Now I’m ready to start a new chapter."
