Teenage forward joins from Haringey Borough

Ryan Dempsey has made his first summer signing in 2023 by bringing in young striker Shakira Kafero-Roberts from Haringey Borough.

17-year-old Shakira had a phenomenal first full season in senior football during 22-23, finishing as the top scorer in the Premier Division of the Eastern Region Women's Football League, with 24 goals in 21 appearances, finishing six goals clear of the next player in the division.

In her short senior career, which began towards the end of the 2021-22 season, Shakira has netted 31 times in as many games in all competitions. She can operate in the middle of a front three, but mostly plays as a wide forward.

"I'm very excited to be here! Dulwich were the first club to contact me this summer about joining and invited me to the game against Millwall Lionesses, it just felt more welcoming than other places that spoke to me." said Shakira.

"The last season and a bit in senior football have certainly been more tough than juniors, I've been pushed about and learned very quickly to build a bit of muscle and fight back and defend myself against opponents!"

"Finishing last season as top scorer in the league was a huge confidence booster for me, at the start of the season I felt nervous shooting but I worked on that and scored lots of goals!"

"I think my ability to run in behind the defence will excite the fans this season, they were brilliant at the Millwall game."

"It is well documented that last season we created a lot of chances but weren't clinical enough," added Ryan. "So it was important to have someone who could run in behind and create more danger in the attacking areas. Shakira is excellent technically and in one-vs-ones, and will allow us more threat in wider and central positions."

"Her pace, confidence and skill will create so many chances and hopefully see our conversion rate improve. Shakira can play anywhere across the front three which is amazing, and will add to the team in any of those, she is always smiling and bubbly and will be a favourite with the fans!"
