Kent Youth League Weekend Roundup
It was a last gasp winner once again as the Aspire Academy coached Dulwich Hamlet Under 18s grabbed a 2-1 over Welling United to move top.
With the Academy Under 18s due to travel to Three Bridges for a Football Conference Youth Alliance match this afternoon (Monday), the Kent Youth League Under 18s had an even more youthful look about it as they faced the young Wings at Rutland Walk. The two sides were level at 1-1, Brian Testolin having scored for the Hamlet, when one of those Under 16s scored the decisive goal. On as a substitute Tyrecce Spinks was in the right place at the right time when right at the death he found the net to give Dulwich Hamlet a vital 2-1 win to move them ahead of Welling United at the top of the table on goal difference going into the Christmas break. However, it remains as tight as ever at the top after Bromley thrashed previous leaders Cray Wanderers Youth 7-2, just two points covering the top four clubs.
The Under 18s now have a well-earned festive break and are not in Kent Youth League until the 17th January when they play the return fixture away at Welling. However, the previous weekend (Sunday 10th January) they host West Wickham at Rutland Walk in the KitToFit Challenge Cup; that game kicking off at 11 am.
Elsewhere the Under 15s missed the chance to move up the table after they lost 2-1 away to Fisher Youth. That result leaves them in sixth spot in the table. The team will next be in action on Sunday 3rd January when they take the trip to Whyteleafe FC, currently heading the Under 15 North Division, the game scheduled for a 2.00 pm kick off.
Meanwhile the Under 14s game was postponed and they remain bottom of their division, still awaiting their first points of the season.
Over in the South East London & Kent Youth Football League there was a narrow defeat for the Under 12s who lost by the only goal of the game to Thameside All Stars Indigo. Going into the Christmas break the Under 12s lie in 5th spot in the B West Division. The next game for the Under 12s in the SELKENT League will be on Sunday 10th January 2016 when they host Dulwich Village Black.
May Dulwich Hamlet take this opportunity to wish all the players, coaches, parents and supporters of all our Aspire Academy youth teams a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy the festive break before its back to the grindstone come the New Year!
