LEATHERHEAD 0-2 DULWICH HAMLET

LEATHERHEAD 0-2 DULWICH HAMLET

MATCH ABANDONED AFTER 78 MINUTES DUE TO HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS

Dulwich were denied 3 points as the game at Leatherhead was abandoned with 12 minutes remaining after a wall behind the goal collapsed as Dulwich fans celebrated what looked like the goal that would clinch the game.

The Hamlet had taken a first half lead when Daniel Carr casually beat keeper Andy Young after an Ellis Green cross had left home free on the six-yard line. Earlier Nyren Clunis had headed wide when it looked easier to score.

However Leatherhead always looked capable of producing a goal but Phil Wilson was assured in the Dulwich goal and the closest they came was when a free kick struck the outside of the post.

With 12 minutes remaining Daniel Carr found space in the box to drill a powerful shot beyond Young and put Dulwich on course to stay neck and neck with Maidstone at the top. However as he received the adulation of the travelling fans a wall collapsed behind the goal and despite the debris being cleared the referee made the decision to abandon the game with health and safety concerns claimed as the reason for his decision.
