Leiston 1-1 Dulwich Hamlet
A second half equaliser from player coach Kevin James secured a point, although The Hamlet slipped out of the play off places.
Dulwich were without the injured Dipo Akinyemi and suspended Matt Drage. Laurence Yiga made his debut up front with Osei Sankofa also coming in.
The game was played on a pitch that held up well in the face of torrential rain throughout the 90 minutes.
Despite having the wind in their favour, The Hamlet came under early pressure. After conceding a free kick on the edge of the penalty area in the 3rd minute, they fell behind in only the 7th minute. A cross from the Dulwich left was swept home by Christy Finch.
Most of the threat from Dulwich was coming from Nyren Clunis on the right. He forced a 19th minute corner that Kevin James floated in and Leiston keeper Ashlee Jones missed, but no Dulwich player could get on the end of it.
Dulwich were really struggling to create anything and the best they could muster were a couple of efforts from Jordan Hibbert & Roman Michael-Percil that were just wide. At the other end there was nothing that caused any alarms for Preston Edwards.
Half Time 1-0
Despite playing against the elements, Dulwich came out much brighter after the interval. A 49th minute corner from Kevin James was dropped by Jones but again nobody could pounce on the error.
Substitute Damian Scannell, who replaced the injured Nyren Clunis at the interval, just failed to pick out Yiga with his cross from the right before Dulwich levelled on the hour.
Patient passing from The Hamlet created space on the edge of the box and Kevin James buried his shot from 20 yards low to the left of Jones.
Yiga then had a header saved, and Jones was relieved when a corner was deflected straight to him. Dulwich poured forward, roared on as usual by their vocal fans, looking for a second goal. Michael-Percil fell in the area but his appeals were waived aside, although The Hamlet could not create any clear chances.
As Dulwich committed to attack, Leiston had a couple of chances on the break but found Preston Edwards alert to the danger, none more so than when he was quickly out to shut down a one on one.
Final Score 1-1
