LEWES 2-0 DULWICH HAMLET
A game where Dulwich never really got going turned in the home side's favour with an error from Chico Ramos straight after half time.
This was a game where The Hamlet can have no complaints about the result as Lewes held the upper hand throughout although it was overall a game of few chances.
The first half saw much good play from both sides but almost no action for either keeper. The closest to a goal was a flicked header from the home side that struck the post. However, the half finished on a controversial note as Dulwich worked a short corner and Xavier Vidal was the victim of a shocking tackle after the whistle had blown to end the half. Surprisingly, the officials chose to take no action.
Two minutes into the second half Chico Ramos dropped a routine catch from a corner and was unable to recover before the ball crossed the line.
Both sides showed a lot of endeavour but chances remained at a premium, although from one Peter Adeniyi just got back to clear after Chico Ramos had taken the pace off a shot. In fact from this Dulwich almost created an equaliser at the other end. Ian Daly firing straight at the keeper.
With nine minutes remaining came the clinching second goal. Lewes made a substitution and simultaneously, Dulwich looked to replace Mathieu Boyer with Jordan Clarke. Boyer limped off into the dugout but inexplicably the officials did not allow Clarke to enter the field.
Immediately, Lewes played the ball through the vacant right back area and Steve Brinkhurst ran clear, rounded Ramos and rolled in the game clinching goal.
The Dulwich bench made their feelings very clear to the officials and Gavin Rose was sent from the dugout for his protests.
Overall, a day to forget but with postponements and other results The Hamlet remain at the summit.
