Looking back to the FC Assyria game

Looking back to the FC Assyria game

We are in the process of tallying up the final figures raised for our recent charity game...

We believe we will hit the three thousand pound figure, once the remainder of pledges have arrived with us.

This is an amazing figure, and our woek was recently acknowledged in the 'Non League Paper', who wrote:

DULWICH KEEN TO EASE THE PLIGHT OF REFUGEES

Dulwich Hamlet were able to donate around £3,000 to the Southwark Refugee Forum and the British Red Cross Syria appeal as they continued their community efforts last week.
Hamlet took time out from their Ryman Premier title assault to host a refugee awareness friendly with Middlesex County League side FC Assyria.
Wednesday night’s match at Champion Hill against a side mainly comprising players of Iraqi descent, was won 3-1 by Dulwich, though the charities were the big winners.
Two goals from Jordan Clarke and one for Rhys Murrell-Williamson sealed a 3-1 victory for a strong Dulwich side.
Assyria’s best efforts came after the match as they handed Hamlet officials an envelope with nearly £300 after a dressing-room whip-round from players and coaches.
Mishi Morath, Dulwich committee member for community initiatives, said the fact his club continue to be so politically awarefills him with pride. “He told the NLP: “I still have to pinch myself to believe how amazing it is to be a Dulwich Hamlet fan right now. I honestly think this is the most exciting time in all of my 42 years following them. It’s more than just a football club. Wednesday was another great evening and the score was immaterial, even though we won the match. We raised a lot of money for two important charities, and our fans donated a huge amount of food to be taken over to those who need it.”
Earlier this season, the club’s fans donated vanloads of food and clothing, which were taken across the Channel, while some supporters have formed the ‘Dulwich2Dunkirk’ collective to continue the work.
This is their second big awareness match after last season’s successful friendly with Stonewall drew attention to the problem of homophobia in football.
“We are very lucky that we have a caring fanbase who get right behind initiatives like these matches,” Morath added. “It shows real community spirit.”
