With Kenny Beaney still suspended and Dipo Akinyemi cup tied, Quade Taylor stepped into midfield and Ibra Sekajja was also restored to the starting line up.
Macclesfield were quickly into their stride and Ollie Norburn had an effort saved by Preston Edwards in the second minute. For Dulwich, a free kick from Ashley Carew was cut out at the near post.
Preston Edwards produced a great save springing to his right as a cross from Browne was met by a flicked header from Holroyd. The same player had a shot that he dragged wide, whilst Norburn had an effort deflected over,
Dulwich seemed to be coping well but were then undone by two quick goals. In the 18th minute, Rhys Browne received the ball wide on the home side's right, ran across the edge of the penalty area and unleashed an unstoppable left footed effort into the top left corner of the net.
Before Dulwich could regroup they found themselves two behind in the 20th minute. Again Browne received the ball on the Macclesfield right and this time he cut in before driving another left footed effort low past Edwards right hand.
Unsurprisingly, it took Dulwich a little time to recover from the two quick goals but they played their way back into the game and would have pulled a goal back in the 34th minute but for a fine save from Flinders. Nathan Green made a trademark run down the left and pulled the ball back to Ibra Sekajja some ten yards out. He hit a fine shot high to Flinders right but the keeper pushed it out.
An Ashley Carew free kick then caused some confusion in the home defence but, after a couple of efforts were blocked, the ball was scrambled to safety.
With half time approaching, Browne then had a chance to complete his hat trick as he got the better of Michael Chambers but Preston Edwards got down to push his effort wide.
Half Time 2-0
Gavin Rose made a change of personnel and formation at half time, with Marc Weatherstone being replaced by Dumebi Dumaka. This meant Quade Taylor switched to right back in a back four,
Initially Macclesfield continued to have the upper hand and a cross from Hancox flew across the Dulwich six yard box and another low effort struck the post.
However, Dulwich gradually worked their way back into the game and a Gavin Tomlin cross from the right in the 55th minute was headed inches wide by Dumaka. Ibra Sekajja, who never stopped running all night, then embarked on a weaving run on the left but his low cross was cut out. Sekajja then had another effort just wide after Ashley Carew found him to the left of goal.
Preston Edwards produced a fine save to deny Hancox but Dulwich would not accept their fate easily and Dumaka had a cross scrambled away. The same player was then sent crashing in the box but the referee awarded a free kick against him.
Dumaka then had an effort deflected over as Dulwich sought the goal that would give them hope of a repeat of the first game, whilst Ibra Sekajja forced Flinders into a fine low save at his near post with 6 minutes left. However, this proved to be the final opportunity for The Hamlet.
