Polls are open to vote for your men's Player of the Month for April 2023

You can now vote for your men's Player of the Month for April.

It has been a nail-biting month for the Hamlet, and at the time of writing, we go into the final day of the season still uncertain of our spot in the National League South for the 23-24 season. However, April has been fairly successful thus far, with two wins, three draws and one loss from our six games.

Sanchez Ming has continued to be a key part of Hakan Hayrettin's defence, playing every minute so far this month, and helping to keep clean sheets in the games against Cheshunt, Taunton and Concord Rangers. Sanchez has also chipped in with a couple of crucial goals, the opener at Hemel Hempstead that so nearly earned us all three points, and the decisive second against Taunton from the penalty spot. He also created our winner for Johl Powell against Cheshunt.

Conor Lawless has been a revelation in midfield this month, with the on loan Luton Town youngster becoming an integral part to the side. Conor has been consistently excellent with set-pieces, indeed it was from one of his corners that we scored from against Taunton. No player has attempted more shots than him this month, and he has impressed with the passing ability and striking range of his left foot, and he isn't afraid of making a challenge or two either.

Aaron Jones began the month on the bench, but the young keeper has been thrust back into the starting XI following injury to Charlie Grainger, and he hasn't looked back. After the heartbreak at Hemel Hempstead, Aaron went on to make his first clean sheet in senior football against Taunton Town, with a second following last time out against Concord. However arguably his biggest moment came when under intense pressure at Hungerford Town, producing some late saves to repel the Crusaders, in particular one from Joe Boachie that was destined for the top corner.

Finally, it was also a quality month for another of our loanees, Deon Woodman. Like Ming, Deon has been an ever-present and has contributed to our three clean sheets this month, and been placed in the National League South Team of the Week by league sponsors Vanarama. His full-blooded approach to tackling, plus aerial ability and recovery pace has endeared himself to the fanbase in his fledgling career in senior football.
