Metropolitan Police 2-0 Dulwich Hamlet
Dulwich bowed out of the FA Trophy as they failed to turn possession into goals.
Dulwich showed a number of changes from the draw at Maidstone with Michael Kamara restored to right back, Jordan Hibbert to the wing & Shawn McCoulsky up front.
Other good news for Hamlet fans was seeing Harry Ottaway named amongst the substitutes.
Dulwich started brightly and, after good work from Jordan Hibbert, Shawn McCoulsky shot wide when given a clear sight of goal. Home keeper Searle also had to produce good saves when tipping over an Ashley Carew free kick & a shot from distance by Jordan Hibbert.
Met Police were struggling to threaten although Terrell Forbes had to cover well when they did break out.
Good interplay from Vidal, Kamara & Carew set up a shooting chance for McCoulsky that was blocked.
It was much against the run of play when the home side took the lead in thw 33rd minute after Michael Kamara gave away a free kick midway inside the Dulwich half. This was floated into the box and, after the initial effort struck the post, Steve Sutherland fired home.
Within minutes Dulwich had a chance to level as Michael Kamara was fouled in the box. The usually reliable Ashley Carew placed his penalty low to Searle's left but the keeper got down to block.
Three minutes before half time The Hamlet went two down. Ashley Carew was adjudged to have committed a foul in the same position as the free kick that led to the opening goal. Same free kick, same result.
This time centre half Rob Bartley was left free at the far post to score.
Half Time 2-0
The second half saw Dulwich monopolise possession and move the ball confidently around the pitch. However, they lacked the guile to break down a resolute home side who were hpy to drop deep.
Ashley Carew & Jordan Hibbert had good chances without testing Searle before the best chance fell to McCoulsky. He got on the end of a Frazer Shaw cross but headed over at the far post.
Dulwich could find no way back as the thickening fog descended on Imber Court and are left to concentrate solely on the league.
