Non League Day 2015 is on the way!
Don't be put off by the date...even though we are not at home..for we are having our own PRE-NON LEAGUE DAY match!
Dulwich Hamlet Football Club is pleased to announce that despite having a scheduled away match on the 2015 Non League Day, which is Saturday 10th October, we shall still be embracing the event.
The week before we have a Ryman League Premier Division fixture at home to VCD Athletic on SATURDAY 3rd OCTOBER and rather than miss out altogether we thought we would stage our own 'pre-Non League Day' match the week before, as the whole event is such a great vehicle in promoting the game at our level.
Just like last year we are planning to throw open the doors to our local community, staging a 'pay what you like' event...which attracted an amazing crowd of 2,856 against Hampton & Richmond Borough last season-with over £6000 raised for charity.
All money raised at the game, after the usual matchday expenses have been covered, are to be split between our official charity partner COOLTAN ARTS & the BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION.
The Dulwich Hamlet Football Committee Member responsible for Community Inititiatives Mishi Morath explained:
"The fixture didn't fall for us this season, but it was such an amazing day last year that we decided to have our own one again, just a week early! The charities we've chosen picked themselves really. Cooltan are our charity for the entire campaign, and the British Heart Foundation was picked in recognition of the important work they do, especially in the light of the serious heart problems last season suffered by two of our fans Neil Cole & Andy Greig."
He went on to explain:
"I was a bit nervous when approaching the Club owners Hadley, to have a repeat of last year, but they had no hesitation in agreeing to do the same...even though it is a gamble in getting enough people to come along to make the day viable. They are extremely supportive of all of the community work we do as a Football Club."
Morath continued:
"Last season's Non League Day match was the first time we'd participated in it, and was the catalyst for our upturn in crowds. The whole Club pulled together, with the Supporters Trust in particular putting in a lot of hard graft in spreading the word about the game. It will be great for everyone to do the same again this time."
