Please help fight cancer tomorrow
We receive many requests over the season to hold collections at our matches
Sadly far too many of them we have to turn down. not because we want to, but simply because there are too many wonderful causes to possibly support.
This is one of the reasons we have an official season-long charity partner, so we can concentrate on them, whilst still helping out in a much smaller way, when we can, for other causes as well.
The last thing we want is to appear to take advantage of our fans' generosity, the feeling being that 'less is more', and making sure you all don't end up suffering from 'bucket fatigue'.
But we recently received a request from a supporter of FC United of Manchester, who ply their trade in the Vanarama National League North, and when you hear his tale I am sure you will support him as he goes round the ground asking for your loose change tomorrow, when we take on Wingate & Finchley.
His name is Karl Pearson, and he has just been given the all-clear for testicular cancer, and he wanted to give something back. With him being an avid non league fan he set himself a goal to see how much money he would be able to raise by visiting as many non league grounds as possible & hold collections at them right until the end of the season.
Karl, who lives in Banbury, in Oxfordshire, began his quest on Boxing Day at Brackley Town and we are more than happy to squeeze him in to be our guest at Champion Hill tomorrow.
Every single penny that you donate, and that he raises on his travels throughout the rest of the current campaign will be presented by himself to Cancer Research UK , who do vital work in the on-going battle against this terrible type of illness.
In advance, we thank you all for your support, if you are able to.
