PREVIEW: Dartford FC (H) 28/08/21

The Hamlet face a tough test against the early season high flyers

A fortnight on since the opening day draw to Chippenham Town, The Hamlet are back in Vanarama National League South action as they welcome early season leaders Dartford FC to Champion Hill.

Danny Mills’ towering back post header got the 2021/22 season rolling for Dulwich Hamlet, that was until a second half penalty converted by Marlon Jackson meant the points would be shared between Dulwich and their Wiltshire based visitors as their League campaign got underway.

After there was no matchday for The Hamlet last weekend it will be a welcome return to action, as again, The Rabble will be required to be in full voice at Champion Hill to spur the lads on as a tough test awaits in the form of early pace setters Dartford FC.

The Darts have had a stellar start to the season with back-to-back victories over both St Albans City and Slough Town. It was a dramatic opening day for Dartford with an eventful trip to St Albans City finishing 3-1. Two injury time strikes from midfielder Dan Roberts alongside a first half injury time opener from Adebayo Azeez were enough to cancel out Tom Bender’s goal for Steve King’s men.

The Kent based side then welcomed Slough Town to Princes Park where they ran out comfortable 3-0 victors to propel them to the summit of the National League South table, albeit early days.

The Hamlet will be looking to improve on their last meeting with Saturday’s visitors after they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Princes Park back in January 2020. Dulwich could look to new summer recruit Darren McQueen to be on the scoresheet again in this fixture, but for his current employer’s time round, as the on-loan Dagenham & Redbridge man proved to be the difference when the two teams last met.

Dulwich Hamlet could field an unchanged XI from the side that opened the season against Chippenham Town a fortnight ago, whilst The Darts could also name the same side for what would be the third successive game.
