Preview: Ebbsfleet United (H) 4/12/21
Another tough tests awaits the Hamlet tomorrow, as fellow playoff hopefuls Ebbsfleet United visit Champion Hill.
A quick turnaround from Wednesday night's 2-2 stalemate at Havant, see's Gavin Rose's men face yet another strong side in this league, as third place Ebbsfleet make the trip to the Hill. The midweek trip to Hampshire demonstrated that Rose's men have the determination and grit to hold on in the face of adversity after Chike Kandi's late red card gave Dulwich a numerical disadvantage for the closing stages of the match. Twice the visitors had led the match, with Danny Mills' 8th league goal this season opening the scoring, whilst Jordan Green ended the Hamlet's penalty hoodoo. However a Abdulai Baggie brace pegged the visitors back on two occasions and meant the spoils would be shared on a fiesta battle in the South.
Such as Havant's playoff aspirations, Saturday's visitor's, might even be glancing a little higher, with Dennis Kutrieb's team currently only three points off top spot with a game in hand. However, his men have come a bit unstuck as of late, suffering three straight defeats. That was after a run of seven victories in the league had soared them into promotion contention, all the while managing to reach the FA Cup First Round, where they only narrowly fell to defeat at League Two side, Leyton Orient. Oxford City and Maidstone United have handed the Fleet back-to-back league losses, whilst sandwiched between those was an FA Trophy exit at Cray Wanderers. Kutrieb will be hoping his side can return to the form shown before this recent blip, which included a six nil demolition of Welling and a 4-3 thriller at play off contenders, Hungerford Town.
The previous meeting between the pair came in last season's eventual abandoned campaign, when in the second round of matchups the Hamlet visited the Stonebridge Road Stadium. Rakish Bingham put the hosts in front, but shortly after Jake Goodman saw a straight red. Lewis White made the man advantage pay dividend as he equalised for the Hamlet, however the ten men of Ebbsfleet managed to hold on for a point. All three for Dulwich on Saturday could take them level on points with Dartford, depending on how they fair at home to Billericay.
