Preview: Slough Town (A) 08/02/22

The Hamlet begin a stretch of three straight away games in just seven days when they battle against the Rebels under the lights at Arbour Park.

Tuesday nights outing to Slough Town provides a stern test of character for Gavin Rose's men, with his side seamingly slipping away from the play-off picture after just two wins in their previous eleven fixtures. Rose will want an immediate reaction to his team's rather dismal display at the Hill on Saturday when Chelmsford City ran out rather comfortable 3-1 victors. Despite a trademark Danny Mills towering header cancelling out Dara Dada's opener for the Clarets, Daniel Imray and a rather dubious Charles Sheringham penalty sealed the three points in front of yet another full house at Champion Hill.

The Rebels also seem to be struggling of late, with just one more win than the Hamlet in that same eleven game period. Slough's last win came back in their last 2021 matchup, in what turned to be an impressive 4-1 home triumph over Hampton & Richmond. Since the turn of the year the Rebels have picked up just three points from a possible fifteen, with draws against Oxford City, Billericay, and most recently Hungerford. There was a great spirit shown from Neil Baker and Jon Underwood's men in that Hungerford performance, as the Rebels clawed back a two goal deficit to score twice in the space of just three minutes to claim a hard-fought point that now leaves them 14th in the Vanarama National League South standings.

The Hamlet's last trip to Arbour Park marks their only victory against the Rebels in the previous four meetings between the pair. That win came back in 2018, when in spite of Louie Soares opener for the hosts, Dipo Akinyemi and Nyren Clunis were on hand to complete the comeback for Dulwich. The Hamlet currently now find themselves occupying 10th spot and are in dire need of all three points to make sure they stay in play-off contention, and with both Eastbourne and St Alban's in action Rose's troops can't afford yet another slip up when they take on the Rebels.
