REPORT | Dover Athletic vs Dulwich Hamlet | Isthmian League | 22/03/25

The Hamlet returned from the Kent coast as a fluke Dover Athletic goal was enough for the promotion chasers to grab a win on Non League Day.

It took just 3 minutes for the Hamlet to have a chance at goal but the Dover keeper did well to tip a long range effort from Mark Marshall over the bar.

The only goal of a rather uneventful afternoon at the Crabble came in the 12th minute. Following a scramble in the Dulwich box following a throw-in Luca Cocoracchio latched onto it and his deflected strike looped over Dillon Barnes into the back of the net.

Mark Marshall almost equalised as he went close to getting his first Hamlet goal but his shot was deflected into the hands of the keeper.

The hosts went close with 10 minutes left of the first half as they dragged a volley wide of Dillon Barnes post.

Aaron Bushell-Williams went close on the stroke of half-time but his shot fell comfortably in the keepers hands. That was the last major chance of the opening 45 minutes on a rather dreary afternoon in Kent.

Dover started the 2nd half strong and went close in the 47th minute however Dillon Barnes got down to deny them a 2nd.

Ryley Scott who made his long awaited return to action after he replaced Kreshnic Krasniqi in the 1st half and he almost equalised after a driving run forward. His shot from around 25 yards out look destined to hit the back of the net only for the Dover keeper to get down and deny him.

Dover had another great chance with just over 30 minutes to go. Dillon Barnes denied the original strike but it fell to another Dover player who fired his shot well over the bar.

In the dying embers Michael Chambers almost equalised on the full-time whistl. George Porter whipped in a delightful ball but Chambers header hit the woodwork and went out for a goal-kick.

With that the Hamlet headed back to south London empty handed ahead of our match up with Dartord at Champion Hill next Saturday.
