REPORT | Dulwich Hamlet 1 - 2 Brentwood Town | 27/09/25

Brentwood Town extended their unbeaten run to 8 as they came back from a goal down in a fierce top of the table clash with Dulwich Hamlet at Champion Hill.

The Blues led the Isthmian Premier as they arrived at Champion Hill on Saturday afternoon. Mark Dacey’s Dulwich came into the game in 4th off the back of a 1-1 draw at Cheshunt, rescuing a point at the death when Nyren Clunis found the top right in the 92nd minute.

Dulwich started the game on the front foot, and their efforts were rewarded in the 13th minute when Clunis found Anthony Jeffrey on the edge of the box who fired into the bottom left to make it 1-0.

The away side were struggling in the first 30, nearly going two down when Amadou Kassarate skied a shot on the turn from 8 yards out.

However, against the run of play, Brentwood equalised when Kymani Thomas drove down the left, before having a shot saved, but Toby Bull could only parry to the head of Daniel Ogunleye who found the net for 1-1.

Frustrations grew in the second 45 with neither side getting a grip of the game early on, but it would be Brentwood who would have the first real chances to take the lead. In the 63rd minute, a powerful shot was blocked by the body of Hamlet’s Okonkwo and a second went over.

But the travelling Blues finally got their goal when Dulwich’s Michael Chambers headed the ball into his own net, with only 15 left to go.

After a dramatic end to end closing to the game, Dulwich couldn’t find an equaliser and Brentwood Town’s winning streak extends to 8 as they sit comfortably at the top of the Isthmian Premier.

Reflecting on the game, Hamlet manager Dacey was disappointed by his side’s inability to get at least a point saying, “We chucked the kitchen sink at it and it didn’t work”.

However, he looked more at the positives such as the impactful return of Anthony Jeffrey, “It was a great finish, it’s taken a lot of work to get him back, I’m delighted for him”.

Next up for Brentwood Town is a trip to Westfield FC while Hamlet visit Cray Wanderers on Tuesday night, hoping to bounce back after Saturday’s disappointing loss.
