Ressies roll over the Stones
Early goals from Kemiko Pope-Campbell and Shawn McCoulsky helped a young Dulwich side to an ultimately comfortable win last night.
Back in Capital League action for the first time since early December, Dulwich Hamlet reinforced their title credentials win a 2-0 win over bottom placed Wealdstone.
The scoreline did not truly reflect Dulwich's dominance over the ninety minutes but once Kemiko Pope-Campbell had broken the deadlock early on, the result was never really in doubt. Pope-Campbell's was perhaps a tad fortunate and definitely a trifle bizarre, an attempted close range shot inside the area miscued wildly before plummeting from a great height. The Stone's 'keeper misjudged the bounce of the ball as it sprung back over him with Pope-Campbell the most determined to nod the ball home from a few feet out.
The second goal from Shawn McCoulsky was more conventional, the striker dashing free of the defence to latch on to a precision pass out of midfield before coolly slamming the ball past the advancing custodian.
The rest of the evening produced a plethora of chances for the Hamlet but no further goals.
The win moved Dulwich ahead of Hayes and Yeading into second spot behind St Albans CIty and, though both Dulwich's title rivals have games in hand they still have to come to Champion Hill for a couple of true six pointers. The Saints are first with their game scheduled for Monday 13th April while Hayes are here a fortnight later.
