Rodney Brookes Memorial Trophy
The Inaugural Golf Day for the Rodney Brookes Memorial Trophy was held recently between former players of Dulwich Hamlet and Sutton United.
Kimm Connett reports that the Inaugural Golf Day for the Rodney Brookes Memorial Trophy was held at Reigate Hill Golf Club on the 4th October, a match between former players of Dulwich Hamlet and Sutton United.
It was a great day with nearly 40 past players of both clubs in attendance. Among those present were Eric Allinson, Steve Bowtell, Andy Edwards, Paul Edwards, Nicky Glover, Bobby Green Ken Grose, Paul Hanifan, Dave Hutchins, Kenny Ireland, Ricky Kidd, Tony Rains, Lee Rogers, Steve Rogers, Kevin Wallis, Lee Wallis and a number of club officials of both clubs.
Former Dulwich Hamlet and Crystal Palace manager Alan Smith spoke at the lunch and everyone raised a glass for absent friends, John Rains, Keith Blunt and, of course, Rodney Brookes.
The match itself resulted in a 5-3 win for Sutton United who are now holders of the Rodney Brookes Memorial Trophy. But Kimm is confident that the Hamlet lads will win next year!
The day also raised a good sum of money for the chosen charity, the Kent Air Ambulance.
