SATURDAY'S GAME AT BILLERICAY WILL KICK OFF AT 7 MINUTES PAST THREE
As mark of respect to the Liverpool fans that lost their lives 25 years ago this Tuesday, this weekend’s fixture will kick off seven minutes later
It was a quarter of century ago on 15th April 1989, during the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, that the tragedy at the Leppings Lane end of Sheffield Wednesday’s ground claimed the lives of 96 supporters, young and old alike.
At 3.06 pm this Saturday, when that game was halted, a minute’s silence will be observed across the country and as well as Ryman fixtures, all Premier League, Football League, Football Conference and FA Cup matches will kick off at 3.07 pm after this simple act of remembrance.
The commemoration across the country is being organised and led by the Football Association.
