September Player of the Month Nomination

September Player of the Month Nomination

Polls are open to vote for your men's and women's Player of the Month

You can now vote for your men's and women's Player of the Month for September.

It has been a tumultuous month for the men's side with a change in manager, two cup wins, and eventually an end to their long eight game winless run in the league to move them out of the relegation zone.

However, there have been some excellent performers within the side, and four players are in the running for the Player of the Month. Danny Mills has moved to the top of the scoring charts, netting four times this month, including a brace on Tuesday evening against Cheshunt, as well as claiming an assist. Winger Nana Owusu has began to play with real freedom on the left, scoring his first two Champion Hill goals against Athletic Newham, and then claiming a brace of assists in our win at Cheshunt.

George Porter returned from injury this month and put in hardworking performance after performance in attack, and found the back of the net twice, in the FA Cup win over Margate and also at Chippenham. Finally Joe Felix has continued to excel in defence for the side, using his pace to get up and down the right wing, whilst he has shown great commitment with his tackling, and has yet to miss a game for the club.

Our women's award is actually being awarded for games in August and September, with just two matches played in the former, and a further three in the latter. They have enjoyed two home outings in front of crowds in excess of 400, winning the first of those against Sutton. They also showed tremendous grit to come back from 2-0 down against Ebbsfleet on the opening day of the season, and scored some spectacular goals across their opening five games. They too, have four nominees.

Chana Hinds began the season in the heart of defence but has become a flying wing-back, using her rapid pace to get up and down the right hand side, and is the joint-top scorer so far having netted against Worthing and Sutton, the latter a stunning goal from distance. Sophie Manzi has worked tirelessly up front, linking play between midfield and her new strike partner Rebecca May, for whom she assisted our equaliser at Ebbsfleet. She opened her account for the season in a Player of the Month performance against Millwall.

Ceylon Hickman has been an ever-present at the heart of defence, ticking possession over with her excellent passing ability, whilst being able to read the game defensively, being voted her sides' best player in the Ebbsfleet draw. Finally, Erin Corrigan has begun life at the club in tremendous fashion, a defender with a penchant for a long ball into the channels, or stepping out of defence to regularly join attacks down the left, and has been incredibly unlucky not to have scored her first goal for the club, regularly wreaking havoc in the opposition penalty area.
