Sittingbourne 3 - 1 Dulwich Hamlet
A very disappointing evening at Sittingbourne as The Hamlet went down to 3 second half goals after taking the lead right on half time.
Despite dominating possession and territory and taking the lead from a debatable penalty in first half stoppage time Dulwich were beaten by a Sittingbourne side demonstrating superior finishing and will to win.
All seemed well at half time as after dominating the first half and having hit the underside of the bar and had an appeal for handball in the box declined, Dulwich took the lead on the stroke of half time from a rather soft penalty decision. The referred deemed that Kevin james had been fouled on his run towards goal and Erhun Oztumer converted the resultant penalty.
However, an injury to Ahmed Deen early in the second half seemed to disrupt the team and Sittingbourne equalised from a long ball through the middle that we failed to deal with whilst we were waiting to make a substitution.
Despite enjoying greater possession we did not create many chances and when a long throw was not dealt with it was Sittingbourne who swept the loose ball home to take the lead.
All our efforts to pull the game back were in vain and in stoppage time we failed to deal with a through ball which allowed a forward to run unchallenged into the box and finish the game as a contest.
