Slowly but surely...we're on our way!

Thank you to everyone who took part in last night's Quiz for the 'Inter City 125' fund

Apologies if the questions were too hard for some, but the most important thing about the whole evening was raising funds toward our target of around £8,000 to take our First Team squad to Hamburg in July 2018, for a celebratory tour to celebrate the 125th anniversary of our grand old Club, with the highlight due to be a prestige friendly against our good friends, Altona 93, who were founded in the same year as ourselves.

Congratulations to the winning team, 'Help The Aged', consisted of several of the more senior members of the Football Committee, in age and rank, with Chairman Liam Hickey being part of the victorious side.

Thank you to the other five teams who tried to keep up with them, not just for participating in the quiz, but also supporting the raffle & auction. Runners-up were 'And In Last Place', who fared better than their moniker would have suggested. In third place were '40 seconds of Fred', their title commemorating the sending-off of a Hamlet substitute Fred Pudney in a match in the mid-seventies, after he had been on the pitch for less than a minute!
'Topping' the 'bottom-half' of the final table were 'Golden Boys'; who would have been in with a good chance of challenging, were it not for the fiendishly antique questions for some in the 'Up The Hamlet!' round. Just off the bottom, in fifth spot were 'Another Fine Mess'; while propping everyone else up were the valiant brigade from 'Scrimps'.

The night in total made FIVE HUNDRED AND THIRTY SIX POUNDS, a truly wonderful figure. Helped in no small amount by the contingent from the team 'Golden Boys' who may not have won the quiz, but without a doubt won the 'Moral victory' by being heavy bidders in the auctions.
