South London mourns
The wider South London footballing community has lost two people recently
This morning the people of Bermondsey & beyond said farewell to Barry Albin-Dyer OBE, who-as well as being head of the much respected funeral firm from the north of our Borough-was so much more than just a staunch supporter of our tenants here at Champion Hill, namely Fisher Football Club. He was extremely modest but proud to be their Club President.
His passing, after a long illness, will be blow not just to The Fish, but to local football in general.
The streets of SE16 were lined several lines deep, as his funeral cortege wended its way through the streets toward his funeral service at The Most Holy Trinity Church, Dockhead.
Not as well known locally, perhaps, but just as big a loss to everyone who knew him, is young Millwall fan Tommy Blackmore, who was only 20-years-old.
He was tragically murdered, while acting as a peacemaker, as a disturbance flared near Tower Bridge last weekend.
Tommy not only followed the Lions, but was a keen player in their Supporters Team, as well as having played for a number of local sides, including Dulwich Village FC, in the Kent County League.
All at Dulwich Hamlet Football Club offer their deepest sympathies to both of their families, friends...and wider community from all over the South-East London footballing world.
