This was a game that will not linger long in the memory, although both goal scored were of the highest quality and the equaliser for The Hamlet from Ashley Carew was certainly a goal of the month contender.

The game was very slow to get going with little action at either end until Buchanan put an effort wide for the home side. Within a minute Muhammadu Faal had gone close for The Hamlet as he stepped inside to players but his effort was just wide of the far post.

All the best chances seemed to Staines and Buchanan. He had a great chance to put the home side in front but his header from a Haydon cross was off target. He then went much closer with a shot that beat Preston Edwards but came back off the post.

However, within a minute of that close shave Dulwich went behind. A long ball forward reached Hippolyte and he cut in from the left and thumped a shot wide of Preston Edward's left hand and just inside the post to give the home side a 23rd minute lead.

Dulwich initially seemed like they may be able to quickly get back on level terms but Sanchez Ming fired wide and then home keeper Daly took the ball off the feet of Muhammadu Faal. Nana Boakye-Tiadomthen had a run that took him through the heart of the home defence but he just lost control of the ball at a crucial time and Daly was able to claim the ball.

With half time approaching, Dulwich thought they should have had a penalty when Ben Martin cut out a cross with what looked suspiciously like his hand. However, with the referee unsighted, his assistant gave him no indication that a penalty should be awarded. It then took a fine save from Preston Edwards to keep out a free kick from Buchanan.

Half Time 1-0

The second half meandered along with neither side looking particularly dangerous for most of it. Buchanan forced another save from Edwards and Miller-Rodney put in a cross that flashed through the six yard box but no Staines player was there to turn it home.

For Dulwich, Muhammadu Faal saw a low effort saved by Daly before Ashley Carew brough the scores level on 69 minutes. Reeving the ball some 20 yards out,he made space for a shot with his left foot and promptly struck a ferocious effort that beat Daly before he could even move.

With some changes of personnel, Dulwich sensed that they could claim victory and Faal had two efforts; one saved by Daly and the other just too high. For Staines, substitute Baptiste had an effort just wide and Preston Edwards also made a good block.

Full Time 1-1

Asley Carew confidently converted Dulwich's first penalty of the shoot out but Kenny Beaney then missed the second. Bettamer and Baptiste converted the first 2 kicks for Staines.

However, Preston Edwards saved efforts from Martin and McEwan whilst Muhammadu Faal and Nathan Ferguson both scored for Dulwich. That left Sanchez Ming to take the fifth penalty for The Hamlet. This he did and Dulwich progressed 4-2 on penalties.
